I couldn't agree with you more. I just finished watching this train-wreck
and it was a very painful experience. It was without question the worst HL
film I have ever seen - worse than Endgame. At least Endgame had some
redeeming scenes - the flashbacks, especially with Connor. There were a few
decent swordfights, and one particularly awesome one. There was a gorgeous
kata.. and two love scenes that were pretty good. This film has none of
that - not one single scene that made it worth watching. Even AP's
performance, especially in the action scenes was wooden. Only in the
emotional scenes did I see a glimmer of his former self - even he wasn't
worth watching this film for.
This review says it even better than I can.

If DPP think they can still save this film in editing they are sadly
mistaken. This film can't be saved without entirely scrapping the incredibly
stupid plot and starting over. Get rid of the super bad immortals with
super powers, get rid of all the supernatural elements (shy of immortality
of course) and give us the things that made the first movie and the series
great - immortals who are just like us but who live forever; compelling
stories of love and loss; moral dilemmas; great flashbacks, love scenes,
swordfights, quickenings, and "Talmudic questions". Most importantly -
don't violate your own canon. - don't marry off Duncan for the 2nd time, or
give him a child of his own. (I know that sounds cruel but I can't stand it
when they violate canon like that).
I think they reviewer I referenced above has it right when they said "It's
dead, folks. Stick a sword in it and let's call it a day."

This list won't be any fun at all.
Even I have to agree with Wendy.
Totally. Completely.

Someone on the HL BB said this movie makes Endgame look Oscarworthy. Sadly
true. There were a few lines of brilliant dialogue between Duncan and Joe and
also between Methos and Duncan that showed a glimmer of David A's attempt to
put some of our well known characters into character, but even he could not
redeem a relentlessly bleak visual affair filmed by someone with a bad case of the
shakes, an unfathomable storyline, and a cartoon villain. I'll stick with the
magnificent t.v. series with its vibrant male and female friendships and the
intelligence and true evil of men like Kalas . This movie, geared again to
bizaare 18 year old males lost me when the first head rolled down the steps.
Blech.
(As always, Adrian Paul looked amazing. He may well be immortal. But he
wasn't given anything to *do* or even be in this movie. Sigh.)

Have any of you heard much about the `Blood Ties' tv series being
made from Tanya Huff books? I saw a commercial for it this week
and the series starts Sunday on Lifetime. I think I read one
of the books several years ago but don't remember much about
it. I'm curious what the series might be like though. For the
people who haven't heard of it, it seems the lead character
is a female private investigator who teams up with a several
hundred year old vampire. The info on the Lifetime site
(www.lifetimetv.com/shows/bloodties/index.php) mentions her
solving supernatural crimes. For those of you who have read
the books, is it alot of scifi/fantasy, or is the setting
more like the HL/Forever Knight realms? (ala very few
supernatural types of characters and most people don't know
they exist.)

At the time I read those books I was reading several others
at the same time, but I DO remember that they were very
good. I can't say what happens to the female lead, it would
give away some of the storyline. I only recall it being very
well written with good characterisation.
I don't have cable nowadays, I spend my time online and won't
give up my DSL line. :) I'll be following this online and I hear
the Itunes has a free download of the 1st hour of the show, after
the broadcast, I would guess. I may check it out. The previews
online at the site were decent.
I'd call it more HL/Forever Knight than Sci Fi. Hope that
helps you decide.
