Since curious minds wanted to know:

      >>According to the folks at Fanodyssey, Stan Kirsch's movie "Shallow
Ground" will be shown during a film festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The festival is taking place April 22-25 Filmhouse on 88 Lothian
      Road.

I've heard that some fans who have been unable to *sell* taped copies of
their favorite shows (after they've replaced them with official VHS or DVD
recordings) are donating them to nursing homes, for the viewing enjoyment of the
      residents.

I don't have a problem with a professional journalist 'selling' us
information, and publicizing that offering. That's what journalists and publications
*do,* for heavens sake. Offer news. Why should they give it away for free? For
one thing, with the internet being what it is, any juicy bits are going to be
passed around moments after the first few people read the publication, anyhow.

Hah. Don't remind me of the time that Ananova (on-line) saw an article I =
wrote interviewing David Fury and Anthony Stewart Head and they =
misquoted my article saying ASH was the new Dr.Who. Took 24hrs for eight =
major international news sites to reprint the mistake and misquote me. =
      *sigh*=20

But fair is fair. Fans shouldn't have to always pay for exclusives. =
Nothing on Highlander as yet, but here's something a bit topical and =
      told here first.

For the Michael Chiklis/The Shield piece I did for the next Impact I =
asked him about the rumour that he'll be suiting up for the role of The =
Thing in the live-action Fantastic Four. This being even before last =
week's rumours about him, I got a shocked look. I'll print the =
concerned quotes here first. I'd appreciate it not being immediately =
passed on to a news-site before we hit the stands. :) Here ya go.

      ******

(smiles)"That's rather amazing. I'm wondering who your sources are..."

Okay then... let me play this rhetorically...would you rule it out or =
would you say that it would you say it would be an interesting =
possibility as and when it happened?

Chilkis (smiling more): I'd say it would be an interesting possibility =
      as and when it happened.

Are you a big fan of comic-books?

Chiklis: (BIG smile!) I'm a very, very great fan of Marvel Comic-books. =
In particluar the Fantastic Four. In particularly Ben Grimm.

If it was to happen might it happen before the next series of The Shield =
      goes into production?

Chiklis: (Beaming now) "One would...hope so. But as Hollywood is a very =
slow moving animal... scripts not being ready and that, it might not be =
      before the next."

Any actors you'd love to work with?

      Chiklis (laughing out loud): "Honestly...I don't know. There's a list =
that I'd like to work with, but I really don't know where else they are =
      with that."

      *****

(Yes... I know. He doesn't *actually* confirm the The Thing role, but =
trust me. Hard to descibe just how big a smile he got when we talked =
      about this)

Synchronicity ... off-topic and totally appropos of nothing ... we were just
on the set of The Shield a few weeks ago! Unfortunately, they had wrapped
filming for the year. So we saw absolutely nothing. But we know where they film
now: Prospect Studios aka (or formerly known as) ABC Studios.

But, hey, any General Hospital fans? We had a nice talk with Anthony Geary:

Ironically, they were shooting in the cellar (doubling for a hosiptal ward)
about 20ft below the General Hospital set!)

John's post reminded me that I don't think I ever announced this here. We
were just out in LA recently. We attended a big Creationcon. Highlander almni
Michael Shanks was there along with a whole host of other actors. We also went on
the set of General Hospital for a backstage visit and saw some filming.

I did an interview while we were out there, as well, with one of the
Enterprise actors who has appeared on Stargate but the interview hasn't appeared yet.
It will be appearing on http://ourstargate.com and I'll be happy to post it as
      soon as it is available.

There are several hundred photos from our trip up on three pages that begin
      here:

      http://photos.ashtonpress.net/pasadena.htm

Leah also did a new cartoon recently:

      http://cartoons.ashtonpress.net/startoons.htm

Michael Shanks appeared in a rather cheesy B movie called Sumuru in Germany.
It's out on DVD now but only available in Region 2 in Germany (I got mine from
the German Amazon.com). But he's good in it and it's a lot of fun. I think I
heard it's due to come out in the US on May 4th (on DVD). We have a huge
gallery of pictures from it at (and I have more to add to it, probably sometime
      later today):

OT, but do you have any idea what movie MS was filming when he was down
here (South Africa)? Because I read something about him saying he was
filming here when he realised he missed the SG-1 gang and that's what
made him decide to go back to Stargate.

It was Sumuru. That's the one he filmed in South Africa. He was there filming
when Hank Cohen (head of MGM Television Entertainment) made the phone call
inviting him back to Stargate. But, obviously they had been in negotiations for
some time prior to that for his return.

Thanks for the info! I'll look out for the DVD (we also use Region 2 here).
