      Hi Adam,

      >The people left on this list may remember me as the list archivist and I run
      >highlander.org.

Of course I remember you Adam. It's long over-due, but thank you for
maintaining the archives all these years. I've used them myself. Should
have said thanks long before now.

      >Since I'm moving to a new web hosting provider, I'm considering selling off
      >the highlander.org stuff to another fan that's still more active, or more

      >Since I've never had ads on the site, and have run the site for fun since
      >1994 it's now costing me more to keep going then the joy I get out of it.

I can't and won't tell you what you should do. It's your money and your
time. If, as you say, the cost out ways the pleasure than perhaps it's
      time you moved on.

      >So are the lists, and Highlander interest in general preaty much gone? It
      >was a good run tho wasn't it :)

      It's been a great run.

The only one who can say when it's over is Debbie. I don't see why the
future of this list needs to be discussed as long as Debbie is willing to
keep it going. Those who are no longer interested are free to leave. If
everyone leaves, Debbie will likely turn off the lights and lock the
door. Until then, HIGHLA-L lives, immortal. :-)

So, who's watching HL on TNN? I'll confess I'm watching, even though I
own all the tapes. Not sure why, but there's something different about the
experience of watching a broadcast. It's been several years since I
watched HL and I'm finding the experience nostalgic.

           Pat L.

I am. Most days anyway. Does wonder for my treadmill time. Have tapes and
even season 1 DVDs but there is nothing quite like watching it knowing you
are doing so with other HL fans and that you can go online and talk about
      it/him all over again :)

i agree...have found that to be true with other shows
as well. And I'm loving the experience of seeing it
all for the first time. Someone said it would be a fun
ride and it certainly is. Even if the Eurominutes
aren't there and if TNN has probably cut minutes here
and there to ad more commercials.

      I've been taping...two sets actually. I have a
cable-deprived friend who's a big HL fan and so I tape
my copy in the afternoon, then program the VCR for the
second run. I just hope I don't wear the darn thing
      out LOL.

I end up almost wishing I could get two eps or even
more a day LOL....I'm beginning to dislike going two
days without my fix every weekend and even one a day
just doesn't seem enough any more LOL.

Mel, who's just glad it's not on at the same time as
anything mom watches or we'd be constantly arguing the
way we were when I was trying to tape Forever Knight
      LOL.

Ahem. I have something to say.

HIGHLA-L and HLFIC-L are NOT DEAD!

I am the list owner of both lists and I am still here and I am still
running things. Adam Beberg has simple been maintaining an archive of
      the two lists.

I read everything that is posted and I enjoy most of it. I've never
been one to post much, as those of you have have been around most (or
all) of the almost ten years (August 11th, 1993 is date HIGHLA-L was
      started) can attest.

Adam, I would like to talk to you off-line about the archives and
purchasing the domain highlander.org from you. As it happens I just
upgraded my entire setup and I have the capability finally to host
      this myself.

Exactly. But I think quite a few people who posted misunderstood
what Adam was trying to say. He wasn't saying that HIGHLA-L should
be shut down, he was saying that, in his opinion, HLFIC-L (the
fiction list) was dead because few people were posting to it.

As Lisa said, only Debbie can call it a day on HIGHLA-L (or HLFIC-L)
and many of us will be here until the very hour she does that.

      hi

I don't get TNN but I do watch the tapes and Dvd's. The Second season should
be out in a month Or two. FK is finally coming to Dvd's No date yet that I
could find. The Highlander chat room is still there. Tuesday's 10-11 PM
Wednesday 10-11pm and Thursday 10-12 (EST) we even still talk Highlander
      sometimes,

Am I in the minority that thought the show vastly improved the minute she was
gone? As far as Richie goes, my main gripe with him was the fact that he's
portrayed as the stereotypical "annoying character" 98% of the time. Y'know,
the whining sidekick kind? Personally, my favorite supporting cast Duncan
ever had was when Methos and Joe were regularly appearing.

Speaking of which, Wendy, did you ever finish the DHFAQ to
include all the episodes? It's my favourite piece of writing
related to HL, and it's not even fanfic. {{Makes faces at
Nina.}} You used to have it at your site, but the URL I
had doesn't work anymore. What gives?

Actually, I don't think you're far wrong. But I think HL with Tessa
and HL without Tessa were two completely different shows. Richie
was meant to be the sidekick, so he was pretty peripheral the
whole time (but that doesn't stop me from loving him still). And
when Methos came on the scene, I think a lot of fans suddenly
thought that the show was the Methos show, not a show about
Duncan. And there's no doubt that Methos did inject some life
into the show. *But the show wasn't about Methos.* It also wasn't
about Richie, or Joe. It was about Duncan. And if TPTB were more
interested in the character of Methos, they should have made a
show with him instead of Amanda or that awful fourth movie.

The Amanda show was definately a wash, and I like the character too. The
fourth movie was indeed pretty awful, just like ALL the sequels, but I for
one thought the fight with Duncan and that Oriental (name escapes me) was
worth the price of admission alone.

      Yes *grin*
Not only was she the best thing that ever happened to Mac, but my husband
lost all interest in the show after there was no more Tessa. [has a "thing"

      Had to mention this.

Three days ago a guy walked into a Shoprite supermarket
(South African chain store) and chopped off his own head
      with a meat saw.

My first thought, of course, was, "So that's how an
      Immortal commits suicide."

Have to agree with you there. Somebody made a comment after seeing
it that there was "too much kung fu". Blasphemy, I tell ya. You
can *never* have too much kung fu in a movie! :)
