Subject: DISCUSS: Future of HLFIC-L and HIGHLA-L

      Hello,

The people left on this list may remember me as the list archivist and I run
highlander.org. I'm doing my periodic archive organizing and I'm seeing very
little posting in the last 18 months.

Only 3 stories have been posted to HLFIC-L so far in 2003. All of 2002 had
as many stories as one month in 2000. That list is quite clearly dead now.

A quick look through the last months HIGHLA-L shows mostly off topic posts,
with some talk of the repeats running on cable.

Along with this, traffic to highlander.org has been falling off for a while
now. Since interest, including my own, is declining (even Debbie's is
nowhere to be found) there isn't much point in maintaining the site anymore.

Since I'm moving to a new web hosting provider, I'm considering selling off
the highlander.org stuff to another fan that's still more active, or more
likely to someone running a Scottish historical site or some such thing.
Since I've never had ads on the site, and have run the site for fun since
1994 it's now costing me more to keep going then the joy I get out of it.

So are the lists, and Highlander interest in general preaty much gone? It
was a good run tho wasn't it :)

Please post any replies to HIGHLA-L, no reason to overwhelm HLFIC-L with a
5th post this year (this being the 4th).

Considering I just joined the list a few days back, the fact that this list
is dead is sour news! ;). Too bad I missed out on the hey day.

I won't pretend to mourn an apparent dying gasp of HL fanfic. But, as for
THIS list, I don't think bloodless mayhem EVER goes out of style.

Nina (maybe if the list closes & all his fans look the other way, AP will
actually get a decent part in something--ANYTHING)

I would also like to see it keep going. I joined a few
months back, after seeing the movies, but haven't been
posting often because I hadn't had a chance to see the
series yet and because I just got back online from a
three month absence in March. I'm really enjoying
seeing all of this for the first time. I had hoped
that maybe more people would discover the series and
join the list now that HL is on again.

Where is the Holyground forum? Also, I'd probably get
more active at alt.tv.Highlander if I could figure out
how to have the mails sent to me at my box instead of
going to the list. Does anyone know how?

I was going to join the fic list once I had gotten
into the series more and probably will quite soon.
(I'm going to try my first fic but I have to wait
      until 'Darkness' airs again.

Mel, who doesn't really want to see Tessa go,because
she and Mac are so nice together.

I've "lurked" here ever since I found Highlander - of course that was when
it was in reruns on SCiFi, and of course they took it off about 6 months
later...... Now that it's running again, give us some time to get back "in
the groove" I learned so much here about ferrets......

Wow. It's like, the end of an era...or something. ;-) You know, when I
came back here a few months ago, I was tickled to find the list still here
after all these years. Once upon a time I left because I couldn't keep up
with the 150+ emails per day that this list generated, but after finding
that so many of my favorite HL websites were now dead links, it was good to
find that the list had survived. But, what was once is unlikely to be
recaptured now, and most of us discuss HL, AP, and PW on other lists
nowadays <waves to Mel>. I hate to see it go, but it's not practical to
keep it around for nostalgic reasons.

I agree. It's good to have Highlander appearing on a "basic cable"
channel; maybe there will more viewers who will want an Internet
list to discuss the show. I haven't watched the show in years; now
I do when I get home from work, and when I know I will have to
come home late, I tape the show. I've missed it.
