Looks like another "Best of" set, PTB trying to milk the fans again. I
thought maybe it was an announcement that they were releasing the sets
as slimline versions. The artwork is nice though.

Eh. Even if they were, since when have TPTB ever NOT tried to milk
      the fans??

I don't really care if DVD sets come in slimline versions or huge, bulky
ones... as long as the DVDs work!

I'm sure you know all the Enterprise fans disavowed the last episode.
Well, I have the DVD set and of all the DVDs, that is the only part of
the disc that doesn't work! The Great Bird of the Galaxy still roosts
      on our side!!

and the Beast, which, AFAIK, aren't out on DVD.)

"Beauty and The Beast" Season 1 is out today (Region 1) . I assume
      other seasons will follow.

Wendy(BatB was good so long as one didn't look too close or analyze too
much.)(Of course the same can be said for many shows.)(I, for one, see
no problem with bestiality if the beast agrees.)

The fans, though? INSANE. I mean, they make HL fans look like Girl
Scouts by comparison. Some fans who took exception to other fans
liking Diana even posted dog poop to them! Crazy, I tell ya.

Remember the story... was it Gillian Horvath that used
to tell it long ago, as we gathered around our
flickering electronic campfires during AOL chats?
Something about fans sending blackened or charred
roses to the producers or the writers?

I've just read on Teletext that John MacLeod of MacLeod died. He was
      71.

He was the 29th chief and he succeeded his Grandmother Dame Flora
      MacLeod in 1976.

His son Hugh Magnus will now become Clan chief.

      Elaine.
      Same clan, different vintage.

And here was me thinking "but how did Elaine know my
      Aunt Mary in Oklahoma died?"

      So sorry to hear that.

But you know it wouldn't be the first time that either of us had done
      that with the other.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Jette. And Elaine, it
makes me a little sad to hear about the clan chieftain
of the real Clan Macleod. Thanks for letting us know.

Even though they were barely 30 seconds worth, I couldn't sit through
all of 'Who Wants to Live Forever".

Even though I haven't heard them, I'm not all that suprised at
      the reaction.

I really do not see the point of re-recording brilliant songs, but
trying to sound exactly like the original. Why?

That part I am suprised about. Since the site refered to them as
`a new take on highlander classics' I took that to mean they were
doing something new with them. (Yea, I know I should know better by
now..) I somewhat expected it would be a bad attempt to make them
more `modern' or something noticably different from the original.

Maybe it has something to do with money (doesn't it always with TPTB?)
Maybe it's cheaper to pay a no-name artist to do a cover, than to pay
        royalties on the original.

I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure that's usually the case. Didn't
someone say that's why Bonny Portmore was re-recorded for Homeland?

Looks like another "Best of" set, PTB trying to milk the fans again.
I thought maybe it was an announcement that they were releasing the
sets as slimline versions. The artwork is nice though.

It's too bad it's not just the `Best Of' set that the HL Store was
selling. But since this is called `The Best Of The Best' and is
only 12 hours, that doesn't seem to be the case. I already have
the full season dvd sets, but it would be nice to have the extra
features of the sword demo/discussions from the `Best Of' set on
dvd without having to buy it from the HL Store. Since the link
you posted said something about fans voting on episodes, did any-
one actually see that info on the HL site? I followed the link
and didn't see any mention but it may have been because of the
browser I was using. I'm curious if it was just the old favorite
episode vote, or if it said it was tied to the dvd release and
      had info on it.

Yesterday I got a call from the HL Store for the first time in
a few years trying to sell me things. They asked if I knew about
the new movie and told me it was being released in theaters soon.
Guess they haven't seen the info on the site that says the release
is September. And of course the fact that an actual theatrical
release sounds iffy. She also tried to tell me something about the
anime movie but gave up when I said I wasn't interested. She then
tried to sell me autographed things. I asked her how much the
`Best Of' dvd set is because I know it's not on the site anymore.
She told me a price and said there were only 17 copies left. She
then wouldn't give up no matter how many times I said I just
wanted to know the price and wasn't going to place an order
right then. So things seem to be the same as far as their calls
      go.
