The amounts people bid at the auctions were ridiculous- charity or not.
I often wondered how many of those people got home and realized they had
spent the next month's mortgage payment on a plastic katana? (Not that
there is anything wrong with plastic katanas.)(I have one myself.)(But
      mine was a gift.)

No, it's a desperate attempt to make money off the good will of the
fans. Selling crappy props *before* the movie comes out? A movie that
will probably go straight to DVD? Selling sketches of props? Selling
costumes off one piece at a time? (Oh goodie! I own the left sleeve of
the costume of a character no one knows or will ever know) I suppose P/D
unloaded all the props to some guy with a warehouse and he is just
clearing space so that he can buy the props from "Nacho Libre 4"

theatre near you.)(Coming late next year to a single theatre in a mall
multiplex in Anaheim.)(Coming to Netflix in time for Christmas 2007)

We're still getting aftershocks, but they are minor compared to 6.7 on
10-14. Anything that makes my fridge walk a foot out into the kitchen is
just wrong. The whole episode was just amazingly LOUD, too. I had no
structural damage, but lots of folks did--& earthquake insurance cannot be
had here, so recovery will be slow.

The quake was centered just off the Big Island, so they got hit the worst,
but even Oahu had some structural damage; I doubt it will be a problem for
you, though. Assuming, of course, there isn't another "big one." There's
no predicting this type of quake, apparently, since it is due to plate
shifts rather than seismic activity. I have long been resigned to
hurricanes & the odd volcanic spurt here in paradise, but getting shaken out
of my bed on a Sunday morning was beyond the pale. Also--the cats were NOT
      amused.

OHLR--Desmond's quip on Lost tonight about Scotland & golf was cute &
reminded me of Duncan in happier days w/ his most gleeful pals. I know EG's
not acting these days, but it's too bad we've lost track of Amanda. As a
playful foil for DM, she was superb.
