I remember someone warning me about the midges on Skye Island. We stumbled on a midge convention at a waterfall an dusk on the road to Portree. We passed the camera from one to another, and ran, fanning off the creatures as we raced back to the car, slammed the doors shut and screamed --Go Go GO!!!!

Right now I am in a hotel in Tulloch and we're ready to drive down towards Edinburgh. Scotland is absolutely breathtaking.

Goodness, I didn't realise you were that old, Dottie - my LJ friends
range in age from mid-20s to late 80s. Most of us are in our
       50s.

Ah yes, the pesky wee creatures are a bother :)
Thank God one of our friends had warned us and we went prepared with anti
midge spray on our visit and I could tell it really worked.

Midges like dusk, they like shade and they like water - you're safest in
      full sunlight,
stay away from trees and lochs........ but they will avoid smoke - look for
      a
BBQ party, or someone smoking a big cigar and stand in the smoke <g>
