I was surprised to find myself liking "Bones." We have
      TiVo and so
      often
miss out on stuff when it first begins unless we make
      a point of
catching it. Thus the show slipped under the radar.
      Kept seeing postive
reviews, and one night we decided to watch just to see
      what Boreanaz
      was
      up to.

Well, color us surprised. We're fans of the various
      CSI-like shows -
mostly because of the science, but also prefer the
      more
      character-driven
shows. Now we're somewhat fans of this show, too. The
      quirks of Bones'
lead character, and of her team, keep us watching. And
      it's amusing to
see Boreanaz dare to be goofy.

I think the main problem Bones has is that Fox won't
just air the eps in order and they keep shifting
things around. And they can advertise the heck out of
Prison Break and House but can't be bothered to give
      Bones the same courtesy.
(sorry, a little miffed at Fox, can you tell? lol)

Just curious MacG, what do you think the flaws are
with Bones? I'm not bashing or anything, I just like
hearing different viewpoints ,helps me get a better
      picture.

Same with Marina, what didn't you like about Fred?
Just wondering because she's one of my favorites on
Angel and I'm curious to hear.

      I forgot a couple things.

The one beef I have even as a fan is the martial arts Bones keeps doing in
the field. They put it into context last week with the kidnapping but I'm
not fond either of her beating up on suspects.

On a up-note, I LOVED DB goofing around dancing to the Foriegner song this
week. Hilarious. And the ending, really gets to the shipper in me :)

BTW, has anyone read the novels the show was inspired by? They're quite
good IMO. Book Temepe is way different from screen-Tempe.

      2. OOh, any CSI NY fans here? I just started watching and have seen about
      8 or 9 eps I think. I can't wait to get S1 DVDs.

LOL 'shipper preferences form easy. I love Mac/Stella...Smacked!

I've even already wanted to write Mac into immortal-hood....lolol. BUt
      nothing so far.

      Marina--
      > yes, I know no one
      > remembers Starman, sod off, Nina).

Huh? That's even nuttier than usual for you.

      > Anyway... I think that this kind of thing (getting jaded and making fun of
      > those who aren't) is kind of a natural way for things to go. I mean, it's
      > been more than ten years since HL started. The bloom is WAY, way
      > off the rose by now.

Yes, but that's only part of it. It's not just time, but quality. And the
steep downward turn the HL franchise has taken in the past _decade_.

HLTS started in 1992 & ended in 1998, & a strong argument can be made that
      it _really_ ended in 1997 w/ season 5. Since then--Raven (blech) in 1998 &
Endgame (hurl) in 2000, plus assorted other silliness that's not even
memorable. Now, it's 6 years after Endgame, & they did it again. In fact,
it looks like they followed Endgame's sorry blueprint in many particulars.
Yet people attend HL cons & squeal & stroke GOH egos all weekend, then go
home & turn on their computers to gush thusly--"Ohmygod
OhmygodOhmygodOhmygodOhmygod--I can't WAIT for the new
      movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Yes, making fun of these twits IS the 1st thing that comes to mind. But the
2nd thing is--maybe if TPTB got less unqualified adulation from the masses
for the crap they've turned out since 1997, they would make a _good_
product that was actually worthy of things like conventions. Just a
      thought.

      Also--Frell you, Marina.

Nina (best pretend Englishman--Ben Browder's Peacekeeper impersonation)
