Oh! Oh! Can we all play??
<much undeserved snippage>
#sweetness&light(What?)(You mean it isn't a game where we try to
write long stories about perceived wrongs done to us by people we
hardly know, talking about inconsequential things that no longer
matter and hardly mattered a decade ago?)(My mistake.)
*snerk*
But you shouldn't apologize; your stroll down memory lane both made
sense and was amusing -- which is more than I can say . . . err,
nevermind.
Don't want to end up with a cameo in 2015's recap.
*ducks behind a shrub*
There are always shrubs. Immortals pop out from behind them all the
time. Not usually Duncan, though. He doesn't pop. That I'm aware of.

Not exactly one of the protagonists, but certainly someone who was
involved heavily, and affected badly by all of this. There was
certainly two sides to this story.
I am working worldcon at the moment, so don't have too much time to
talk but I will respond later and in more detail, and I have the detail.

Personally, I would appreciate your *not* doing so. Rehashing
10-year-old grievances is to *no* one's benefit and of interest only to
those directly involved at the time.

Mainly a lurker here. No offense to anyone, but please allow me to log my
vote for not continuing this thread too. It will only result in more hurt
feelings and/or nastiness. Both 'sides' believe they are right and at this point,
is there really any chance of that changing?

Well, she probably wouldn't admit it publicly if she did <eg>
No, no...I'm just paranoid. My post dropped in my mailbox and a little
while later Leah's dropped without any intervening posts. I'm sure that
was a fluke of the mail system and there was some other response to
Janine that was being referenced.

Oh, come on! Janine shouldn't be the only one allowed to play "Ten Years
Later"!! I'm sure it was very cathartic for her to rehash her 10 year
old grievance and we wouldn't want to deny that same catharsis to those
other valued members of the group who need help in putting their pasts
to rest.

I'm sure it wasn't Janine's intent to stir up hurt feelings and/or
nastiness. Her motives were, undoubtedly, pure. She just wanted to give
us a fun-filled trip down memory lane. I'm sure she never would have
posted her detailed painful personal memories of that time if she
thought that anyone would be hurt by them or have a different view of
events that they felt should be heard as well. But, having heard
Janine's story, I would love to hear other accounts of that time. I
have only the vaguest memories of the events in question (not having the
complete HIGHLA archives at my disposal)(Debbie...please upload them
somewhere we can get them.)(Pleaseeeeee).
And now our OBHLR: HL:The Source is going to have fake mountains.
sweetness&light (I know who She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is now.)(That was
driving me crazy.)(Still can't identify BNF # 1 and 2)(Unless they are
the BNFans who were also on the set when Janine was.)(Could it be that
easy?)

Let's go by Immortal time standards and wait at least another 10 years before
poking in the ground again for this topic. It appears to still be alive. I
seriously doubt the participants on any side of the issue are going to change
their minds at this point, and in the meantime, the list spider will only
gleefully feed on the fresh supply of free-floating venom.

I barely remember this topic being hashed. That was just about the time I joined this list.
It has been wonderful lurking here with y'all. BTW, I clicked on the link and it said the page couldn't
be found....

I guess I have to add that I did not mean to imply that Janine intended to
stir up anything. I'm not picking any sides here no matter how many points of
view get posted. But hey, in the interest of equal time, post away - I
certainly won't be complaining. I went to one Con many many moons ago and have no
involvement or knowledge of the whole thing. Just wanted to voice my vote
early in the thread.

Got a little time now. I did think I would post a full reply, but
then I thought about it, and what is the point. A lot of people got
hurt.
So all I am going to say, it that I know what happened and so do the
others involved.
So much has happened to all of those involved in the time things far
more important, it was ten years ago, let it go and let everyone else
let it go too. It's not worth it.

Subject: WorldCon
Anyway to brighten the mood a little.
As you may or may not know WorldCon is in Glasgow this year.
I got heavily involved and have been helping out. I've even done a
couple of panels. My first WorldCon panels. One of them was a
Highlanderish panel, it was about immortals in media and books. The
other panel members were all writers and I was the only fan. One of my
fellow panellist was Ginjer Buchanan, this was the first time I have had
a chance to meet her, and we both had a lot of fun talking Highlander
stuff, and so did the people in the room.
My other panel was a Buffy/Xena/Hex panel and was asking if the media
was only portraying Lesbianism to catch viewers or was this a move
forward. It was also well attended and was a lot of fun, with various
ideas on the subject being thrown around.
I've been meeting up with lots of people I haven't seen since my last
trip to the US and that has been the best aspect. Being surrounded
again by American accents, is fun and made me realise how much I miss
you all. Of course also meeting people from all sorts of other places,
Japan, two charming Israelis today, someone from Russia, and having our
table in the fan room next to the Tolkien Society is neat too, yes we
did join.<G>
Two more days to go and then I can get some sleep.

Thanks so much for the report! I'd had every intention of attending this
year, but as so often happens, RL decided to interfere. :) Glad you're
having such a good time. Worldcons are always great fun.
