No, we were thinking of ways that Archangel could have been a
dream/not real. Someone suggested a "Dallas" type thing, where
it turns out to have been a dream.

Mel suggested a Wizard of Oz type one.

So I jumped in wondering about Duncan having things sucked out
of him, meeting a tall, dark man in a leather coat, and thinking,
"Why oh why didn't I take the BLUE pill!". Which is all straight
out of the Matrix, of course.

And that's the fantastic movie I was talking about.

That would be The Matrix. Which in some ways would actually explain how
Highlander 2 is considered by some to be part of the HL Universe.

One movie was enough - but no, they had to make 3, plus
the animated, plus the computer game(s).

Actually even the first movie - the story could have been
told in half the time..... you could practically see them
looking for ways to stretch it out.

And yes, I *did* understand it - the first comment you usually
get from folks when you say "didn't care for it" is "that's
      because you didn't understand it - it's *deep*" - no, it's not
it's very basic, very simplistic philosophy, not hard to understand
      at all.

It's one of those movies that looks spectacular and is fun
to watch the first time, but unless you like watching and
rewatching it for the special effects, there's nothing else
there to watch it for again.

"The Sacred Bovine of the Franchise shalt be milked until it is udderly

I really liked the movie, but I would have liked it better had they stopped
      there.

I didn't find that at all. For the most part the story flowed very well.

A few people I know didn't understand it the first time (then again, they
could only watch "Memento" in reverse).

Much like Highlander, the popularity of The Matrix was something of a
surprise. The difference is that The Matrix ended up with a larger following.

Actually... I did think that was what happened in that ep. Afterall, who
would have thought that TPTB would have been so stoopid as to kill li'l Richie
off by his mentor's hand? INCONCEIVABLE!! Alas, That's the reality of it and
there's no changing it. But I dearly wished it had been a dream. Nightmare.
