      "Happy Happy Joy Joy"

Y'know at times like these I really don't mind being a sad fan-boy
geek because for nearly two hours I've been in hog-heaven.

X2 is without doubt the biggest love letter to X-Men fans and
sophisticated action junkies that one could really wish for. With the
exception of a couple of so-minor gripes, this is an almost
pitch-perfect blockbuster with just the right amount of action, a
serious undertone, great acting, in-jokes galore and nods to thirty
      years of comics continuity.

Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler: I had my doubts. But the
characterization is spot on, the BAMFing is terrific.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine: Again, pitch-perfect and much more
dangerous and violent this time. Snikt Happens, indeed!

Halle Berry and Famke Jamssen are given more to do, as are Patrick
Stewart and Anna Paquin. James Marsden has less, but does well with
      what he has.

Story: Excellent...and particularly satisfying for long term fans. DO
read God Loves, Man Kills before watching the film to really
appreciate how well they've taken the idea and run with it. Different
enough not to spoil surprises, but to see the deeper meanings behind
certain events. On short, they've moved some people around, but leapt
      the heart.

      Peter Wingfield?

Nah, you don't want to hear about that! Oh. You do? Okay then. Not a
major role at all, but far from being a 'blink and you'll miss him'
either. Several close-ups, several lines of dialogue and a not bad
generic US accent. Hard to tell, but he may well be the first soldier
to enter the School in the well-trailered attack on the X-Mansion
(Peter or 'Lyman' has 'jungle' make-up for early appearances).

      More later. X-interviews tomorrow!

      John

Sure--congrats to the scofflaws & the morally impaired. Give those folks a
REALLY nice round of applause--after all, it's what they crave, enough to
steal the creative property of ther very people they supposedly admire.

So I guess that answers the question as to how at least *one*

And I distinctly remember JMS saying he didn't care if people
wrote fanfic, but that they should keep it away from him
because he was writing his own stuff and never the twain should
      meet.

(Although, with a show like B5, fanfic seemed kind of redundant.)

This may be old news but I hadn't seen it mentioned before. I was
in Best Buy today picking up the first set of Andromeda Season 2
episodes on DVD and saw what looked like AP on cover of a movie
on the shelf below. The movie turned out to be `Alien Tracker',
which seems to be part of the series. It said the run time was
103 minutes which didn't fit right for it to be either two or
three episodes. Only part of the description on the back sounded
familiar but I had only seen the early part of the series. I
poked around the web a bit to find what it was and found a review
from someone who pretty much said they took part of the pilot and
two later episodes and sliced and diced them in a failed attempt
to turn it into a movie. I don't know how accurate that is but
if anyone is planning on buying it thinking it's full episodes
you may want to do some checking first.

Well, thank goodness she isn't talking about ME, since Leah/Annie go on & on
all the time about how they don't read my posts.

There's nothing wrong w/ _writing_ fanfic. Annie (or was it Leah???) was
talking about _published_ fanfic--very different. Note that Whedon did NOT
say that idle fans should _publish_ their work. Much less be ballyhooed &
given "awards" for writing slightly less purple prose than their cohorts.

And if Joss Whedon is anything at all, he is gloriously NON-typical in just
      about everything, so ....

Nina (annoyed, however, that Whedon's sour grapes attitude over the Firefly
fiasco is forcing that irksome show's mediocre actors on Buffy & Angel fans
      these days)

I'm on the Adrianpaul_Tracker Yahoo list, and it's
true. It really made a lot of fans angry because they
had put their names down for DVDs of the whole season.
But some thought that perhaps they were using that as
a measuring stick to see if it was worth releasing the
      whole season.

Mel, who doesn't have a DVD player :(

yeah, I rented it to see if I'd want to buy it. I don't want to buy it. They
completely removed all the really sweet parts in order to drive an entire
season's worth of storyline into an hour and a half. It doesn't work.
I'm glad I have it all on tape, but I'm waiting for the dvd's of the whole
season *if* they deem to make them.
