So do you remember who was the voice of the Lone ranger on Radio? Matt Dillon?

Was the Long Ranger an Imortal? Everyone else die that day.
Was Conner really the Lone Ranger?

Is it time for us to discuss slash again?

Damn! I have to update my calendar. I still have slash marked for mid-April.

      Let's see:

      ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Methos had the hots for Duncan.

No. Duncan would never have done that!

But Methos might have persuaded him because he's learned a lot of tricks in 5000 years.

Hey! Just because someone is 5000 years old doesn't mean they'll do *anything*.

Duncan's been around too...he probably had sex with some guy in the trenches.

Ugh! My Duncan would never do that. But Lord Byron looked kinda limp wristed.

Byron? He had a wife and daughter in real life.

So? I see him and Methos as being attracted to each other - and the goat.

Just because *you* think they look attracted to each other doesn't make it so.

The writers were obviously putting homoerotic subtext into the story since they couldn't put homoerotic text in.

They could have just written gay Immortals if they wanted to. Since they didn't - we shouldn't start assuming that the ones shown *were* gay.

It has nothing to do with being gay! It's about being attracted to a person.

Yeah, right. Straight guys always fall for other straight guys and let themselves be buggered senseless. But they're not *gay*

What are you? A homophobe? .

I can hate slash and not be homophobic.

Sure. If you had your way there would never be any gay characters on TV.

I thought you said they weren't gay? Besides I have no problem with gay characters. I just don't see Duncan as being attracted to men. And I certainly don't think Richie would have buggered anyone voluntarily.

OK. Richie is a special case . But Methos *definitely* swung both ways. That nose painting scene was a classic.

Harumph! Don't you know any men who goof around and *don't* sleep together? Your circle of friends must be limited.

Ha! Most men are bisexual and you just don't see it!

      Bite me!

      Right back at ya!

Besides..all fanfic is illegal because it violates the copyright of the *real* writers. You know..the ones who had to actually work to create new characters.

Phooey! No one makes any money off fanfic so TPTB aren't losing any money. Besides, fanfic keeps the franchise in the public eye which is good.

Good? When innocent people might stumble on your sick disgusting slash and think that HL is a porn series?

You can't stumble onto slash. You have to look for it.

Any one who searches on Yahoo will end up with slash sites.

I think most people are smart enough to realize that slash is different than the "real" series.

You think so? You haven't been keeping track of the kind of people loose on the Internet.

In any event, TPTB know all about slash and they don't mind it.

They don't? Who told you that? And what if they did object? Would you stop?

They know about it because everyone knows about it. I wouldn't stop because it's a free country!

Right. And what if one of the actors hated being portrayed as a bum-f***er?

Why would he care? It's a *character*..not the actor.

And no one ever confuses the two?

Fans should be sensitive to the wishes of the actors and PTB but they shouldn't censor their creative flow.

Give me a break. If you had a creative flow you wouldn't be stealing characters from other writers!

There are only 6 plots in the world. Everyone steals.

      I said *characters*, not plots.

Oh. Sorry. Different discussion on a different list. Anyway...I think it's flattering to have someone want to borrow your characters.

So if I borrowed a character from one of your fanfics and made them do unspeakable things in my story, you wouldn't care?

      No. Well. Maybe...but that's different.

Yeah. Now it's your ox getting gored.

You could at least try to be civil!

Why? I'm not the one who's practicing character assassination.

      Shut up!

      No, you shut up!

No she didn't. No one wants that.

I want Methos to do that to me.

      Freak.

She needs to just get over what happened in the Bronze Age and get on
      with her life.

      Don't blame the victim!

You're jealous of Cassandra, that's why you don't like her.

Yes. I am. I've always wanted nails like that.

She was a miserable swordsman and should have been dead centuries ago.

      Don't blame the victim!

      Bite me.

The fact that you want me to bite you suggests that you're either
into kinky sex, or are gay. You might also have rape fantasies.
      That makes you sick.

Hey, don't tell me I'm gay. That's for the slash discussion.

Well, it violates copyright law. And, shouldn't those who _own_ the rights
to fictional characters get to decide if they are harmed? (You know-the
people who _created_ the universes that fanficers glom onto.) _Of course_,
the people abusing those rights see no harm & think it's all fine &
      dandy-they are having fun..

I'd love to hear some PTBs _honestly_ discuss this-whether they feel fanfic
hurts them & exactly how, if slash is any different, what their opinion of
fanfic writers is, etc. Unfortunately, I believe con guests routinely
forbid questions about fanfic/slash. Wonder why that is?

Byron really -was- bi, though. He wrote many poems to a young, male

And speaking of Byron, has anyone seen the movie Frankenstein Unbound?
Jason Patric does a really great job with playing him.
