Just going by what you've said, it also sounds like the premise of
Timecop. Someone who did see the first ep said that AP's literal and
figurative stumbling around reminded her of Starman. If something worked
before, someone is sure to try it again. Remember the year everyone was
doing an ER-style medical drama? Or the year of the Friends clones?

I think I'm more forgiving about Saturday night TV too. Maybe it goes back
to watching cartoons as a kid, where you get a couple hours of pure
entertainment. The visual equivalent of a bowl of Sugar Smacks. Except
then you have Schoolhouse Rock, which is like the milk in the cereal...
uh, sorry. :::chases down out of control metaphor, stuffs it back in its

That said, I'd still want a show that could hold my interest, even if only
on a surface level. I don't think Tracker could do that, kind of for the
same reasons that Virginier stated: I'd want more Geriant. :)

I agree. Tracker's no West Wing, but that's OK.

The problem (for me) is that Tracker's not much at all--other than a way to
see AP in action on a weekly basis. Really, I'd not be watching it as of ep
#3, if any actor other than AP were the lead. Highlander had me hooked
after just one ep, regardless of TAO.

And, from AP's perspective, if 6 years & 1 film of Highlander never did AP's
career much good, how's another (& inferior) syndie action show filmed in
Canada going to do the trick?

Oh, heck, it's been happening as long as there's been drama. The
year after Kojak premiered, every blessed program had a lead with
a name that ended in "K". Kolchak, Konrak, etc. Now, since West
Wing has been such a hit, we now have "The Agency", and, I think,
another CIA show. Isn't there another federal agency that has a
show, too? I'm waiting for "General Accounting Office: The
Series - Stories ripped from today's headlines!" Mr. Smith! YOU
FORGOT TO CARRY THE ONE!!!! :::: dramatic music plays :::: With
Judging Amy working out well as the story of a flawed, very human
judge and her family, (though I'm about to slap the woman upside
the head), now we have more stories about flawed and human legal
system types. Judging Amy was, in its turn, a ripoff of
      Providence.

Hah. Whippersnappers. You kids don't know how good you have it
      - er - never mind - Sat. evening used to be pretty decent in the
old days. Even the Saturday Morning lineup was better. Early
on, it was Mighty Mouse, Roy Rogers, Sky King, Fury, and the Lone
Ranger. Then Rocky and Bullwinkle came along. :::: rocking
agitatedly :::: Snidley Whiplash and Boris Badenoff were ripoffs
of Mighty Mouse's Oil-Can Harry...it goes on and on. But it was
fabulous, even on a fuzzy tiny early B&W TV screen. The Mickey
Mouse Club was on in there sometime, too. Whippersnappers!
      Whippersnappers all!

Sat. evening is complete famine right now. I used to watch The
Practice on Sat.; it was there in the death spot until it got
popular. Now they have this grating drama about Washington DC
that I can't stand to watch, because the Craig T. Nelson
character should be played by a Tony Williams lookalike. So I'm
stuck with Animal Precinct and So Wierd (oh shut up, Sandy!)

I'm definitely interested in Tracker after one ep, even if it's
only to see if he ever puts on some clothing.

Did anyone notice the very nice fighting moves in the Relic
Hunter ep that I saw only a few seconds of?

KBTU in Houston apparently suffered a brain fart last week and,
instead of running the second episode of Tracker, re-ran the first
one. Then, yesterday, they ran the third episode. So I haven't been
able to see the second one.

Does anyone have a copy that they would be willing to make a second
copy of that I could get? Please write me off-list about this, as I
suppose it's OT even though there are a LOT of Tracker posts lately.

Obligatory HL reference: So, I wonder if Duncan liked to watch
action-adventure flicks or if they just bored him?

You know ... I work for GAO. (I'm the systems librarian.) I'd LOVE to see a
show about us. GAO takes itself soooo seriously. The premise ... the _true_
mission of GAO: to ensure that no government agency does inefficient as
well as well do. (Rest assured, we're _very_ good at that.) The mind
      boggles.
