      Subject: CL promoting Vercingetorix

      Bonsoir tlm,

The movie Vercingetorix , where CL plays the title role, is to premiere in
France on January 24th. It is a big movie ;) big epic ! CL has been doing
lots of promo for this movie in television in France, mostly on channels we
do not get here ! zut alors !

Yesterday CL was in chat in France at 6 pm (noon Montréal time). There was
also a vidcam filming him (the intervention about his sunglasses are
because people were also watching him).
I could not be present, was in meeting. I was send the transcript. It was
      an hectic
chat. I removed all the texts, messages and try to figure out who asked
what questions. Comments between * are mine and mine alone. Some
expressions are hard to translate , so it is not very good this one - not
that I am very good to start with in translating ;) . CL speaks and writes
french on a very popular european level .... a comparaison perhaps .....
what if Russell Crowe did a chat in Australia using their peculiar accent,
prononciation and expression ... could this be
easy for you to grasp and then translate into a second language ? well CL
French does that to me :) Can't wait to visit France next year and be
      dumfunded !

The movie Vercingetorix will be released as Druids in the states at some
point. Ines is a Spanish lady, model turn actress, famous in Spain (big
country Spain !) who played CL / Vercingetorix wife in the movie. Asterix
is as known in Europe and Quebec as Batman is in the states ;) what else
..... for those who do not know ... Paroles et Musiques, Hercules &
Sherlock are both French movies he did ;) the first one with Catherine
Deneuve , he was real young and it was shot in Montreal !!!!! (CL has
filmed in Montreal fairly often !!!!) the second with a real funny French
actor ! Pointman is the movie he was filming in Luxembourg when the
producers of HL IV needed him for some extra shots - so they had to follow
him overthere in order to get him ;) (Luxembourg is a very small
principauté / country by a border of France!) Ressurection was also
released on video in North America. Nirvana was a hit somewhere else *g* !
      (liked this movie myself!)

Vercingetorix fought Jules Cesar , uniting gauls under his leadership and
could have won .... had this or had that .. be possible ..... it shaped the
      french to be ......
A hero of my childhood although my family has been living in North America
for over three hundred and fifty years .... we are french ;) through and
through ... even if we are not ;)

      A+

      JoAnne

      =====================================

<C_Lambert> Ines is a charming person, very pretty with whom I had an
excellent rapport on the set of Vercingetorix as she does have a princess
aura, she was very well casted for this movie.

      <C_Lambert> Hi

<konstance> I loved "Paroles et musiques" 15 years ago. Since then I was
waiting for this romantic man. So why so many roles of super-heros always
      stronger, bigger, immortals ?

<C_Lambert> to Constance > Dear little one, or bigger one, you will be
happy, I am coming back in a romantic character in Vercingetorix.

(what other roles would you like ?)
<C_Lambert> to Konstance > the silver surfer
<C_Lambert> I would love to play the silver surfer Konstance

      (about Vercingetorix)
<C_Lambert> Even if he is a heroic character, he is human; he carries a
humanity, even if often he is an active warrior, that makes him an
      extremely romantic character

      (about Ressurection)
<C_Lambert> to auriol > I played in the movie Ressurection on my own free
will, I had the idea about the script and I had a lot of pleasure in
      working with Russel Mulcahy

(about the project of the movie of Corto Maltese )
<C_Lambert> to Wookies > it's in a void space, nothing is happening about
Corto; as soon as I will get some news, I will pass them on

<marckopolo> Aren't you afraid that VERCINGETORIX will ressemble BRAVEHEART ?

<C_Lambert> Marckopolo > No, the subject is completely different; of course
it is an epic movie , spectacular with wide spaces but since the story is
totally different, we cannot compare those two movies.

<angloy64> christophe lambert., where have you done your military service ?
...was it at the 6èBCA in Varces ??
<angloy64> I am one of the ancient of the 6BCA !!!

<C_Lambert> angloy > effectively, I was an alpine (hunter ? plane pilot
*chasseur alpin could be a pilot, could be a hunter - I know nothing of
Swiss or French military service - do not know where Varce is*) in the
third compagny of fighter, third section, the craziest section of the
battalion but I must admit I had lots of fun.

<konstance> You went into thailandais fast-food, is it because of your
taste for business or your taste for food ?

<C_Lambert> Konstance > I did not go in the thailandais fast-food, I am
into cooked food because I enjoy food and business both; business must
brings money but for now I am building business.

<zax> what do you think of highlander 2 ? are you happy about this movie ?

<C_Lambert> Zax > I believe that if Highlander 2 would have had another
title, it would have been a good movie but it had nothing to do with
      Highlander

<thusydide> Did you like the story of Vercingetorix when you were a young
      child ?

<C_Lambert> THUSYDIDE > I was admiring VErcingétorix but I did not know
much more than what was taught me in school, his goal and his generosity
      have always fascinated me

<kihm> CHRISTOPHE> Do you think French films can rival American ones ?

<C_Lambert> KYHM > I think all type of films can exist and should retain
their identity , we have the same abilities as the americans to make an
action movie, probably less superficial on the side of feelings, Luc Besson
      proved it.
<C_Lambert> European cinema should open a door of their movies to an type
      of international movies.

((( * this person mentionned this - though it would be of interest*
<cyrilbertrand> Salut christophe, we have meet of the set of The Pointman
where I was a figurant when you were in the hospital in Luxembourg, and I
would like to know when the movie will be release ???)))

<guldukat> how do you select the questions to which you will answer, this
could help us formulating those we want answer to ?

<C_Lambert> I do not choose dear guldukat since you may have notice, some
of the stuff here is only messages

<konstance> Can you remove your glasses and look into the camera just for me ?

<C_Lambert> my glasses, I only remove them when I am filming a movie

<maudbuffy> Where can we obtain a signed picture of you ? thanks a lot !

<C_Lambert> go to Starzplanet.com/christophelambert, there is an adress
for the agencies that are transmitting all the demands, it is a promise

<ilana> Okay of well, what about children ?????, how many do you have ?

<C_Lambert> ilana > I have a seven years old daughter that I keep for myself

(this person asked about him liking filming Vercingetorix)
<C_Lambert> Tucidide > a lot because for me it was a return to an epic, to
something I had not done since Tarzan
<C_Lambert> These are hardship but they make you dream and to not happen
      every day

<NicolasIeboss> <C_Lambert> Was it fun to play with dogs in Hercule &
      Sherlock ?

<C_Lambert> Nicolasleboss > It was brillaint, every dog had five doubles
and I nearly took one for my little girl

<zax> CHRISTOPHE: can you remain master of your image (*copyright I think
this person meant*) on the internet as well as in the press ?

<C_Lambert> Zax > We cannot control an image on the net or the press but at
best, to know about it so there is no surprise .... and despite it all,
      there are still surprise!

<ilana> Do you live in France or in the States?

<C_Lambert> ilana > I live mostly in Swiss (*can't spell the name in
English to save my life!*) , in France and in the States

<thierrix> Christophe : How do you manage to read 150 questions and to
      remain cool ?

<C_Lambert> thierrix > It's a matter of discipline and I even learn how to
      read

<cyrilbertrand> when will your next movie "the pointman" where I was
      figurant, be released ?

<C_Lambert> Cyrile Bertrand > The film is still being edited and I will see
it around the 15 of february for a fall release of this year.

      ><auriol> CHRISTOPHE will VERCINGITORIX be release in DVD with some bonus
      >and a sound in DTS ? Dolby ?

<C_Lambert> Auriol > Vercingétorix is first coming out at the cinéma, on
      24 janvier,
of course, later on it will be release on tape and on DVD with some bonus
only for those who will go and see the film

<zuperkool> > Christophe : What did you feel when you failed Gaule by
losing so awfully in Alésia !!!!! It is on account of you that we are
      romans now !!!!!!

<C_Lambert> Zuperkool > First off we are not romans now but like the
romans we have some latins origins; if you read the gaul wars as written by
Jules Cesar himself , a little partial, you will see he wrote how he should
      have lost in Alésia.

<zuperkool> CHRISTOPHE : But then what happen ? how did you manage to lose
anyway ???? even Jules said he should have lost !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<C_Lambert> For me, Vercingétorix won the battle even if he lost because
on the human side of the equation by giving his life for his people, he
could not go any farther and true victory always comes from the heart !

<le_chapo> Can you really use swords ?@ooo(|:::::::::::::::::::::>

<C_Lambert> Le chapo > Yes I have some expérience but for the wars that
are parts of this movie, I had to work a lot.

<zax> CHRISTOPHE: if you were to compare yourself to a character in
Asterix, which one would you ressemble the most ?

      <C_Lambert> Zax > VErcingétorix

<konstance> Why did you leave for the USA and have abandon us ? In France ,
we do have some decent reels !
<konstance> Do you have a problem with french reels whose scripts often
are happening between the kitchen and the bathroom ?

<C_Lambert> Konstance > I have no problem with french reels and reels in
general as long as they are offering me entertaining movies, which does not
mean that I do not have a lot of respect for author movie

      * I think the french expressions - reals - related to movies, movies reels,
movies scripts and all that ; not quite up to some common form of popular
      expressions from my cousins overseas!*

<debz> Christophe, will Vercingetorix be released theatrically in the US and do
      >you know when?

<C_Lambert> Debz > YES it would be released by sony pictures sometime this year

<le_chapo> Do you consider that some of your movies may be bad ?

<C_Lambert> Le chapo > I do not know if some can be considered bad-bad but
      some were border-line bad

<thusydide> Does the movie modify the true story of the gaul hero ?
<thusydide> Has the movie changed the story that we have learn in college ?

<C_Lambert> Thusydide > NO, without trying to make a history book out of
the movie, Jacques Dorfman wished to respect the historical truth that we
know and since there is much we do not know, that has allow him some
cinematic freedom that are also making this movie a entertainement.

<le_chapo> Where you thinking about NIRVANA when you said border-line bad ?

<C_Lambert> Le chapo > I do not agree with you, Nirvana is one my favourite
movie that had a bad turnout in France but made a hit elsewhere.
<C_Lambert> It is an extremely sensitive movie that depicts in an
intelligent manner the society where we are heading.

(? relating to what he has learned since his beginning ?)
<C_Lambert> Zax > I do not think I am more mature but I think that this is
not a job one learn, it is a job one changes and evolve in

<le_chapo> Did you play chess before making Knight Moves ??

<C_Lambert> Le chapo > I have played chess since I was a child, which does
not mean I am smart but does not mean I am stupid either

<davidcornut> CHRISTOPHE, why do you priviledge ENglish speaking movies ?

<C_Lambert> David Cornut >I do not priviledge English speaking movies, I do
those that are propose to me, that are pleasing me, sometimes I am right
and sometimes, like everyone, I am wrong.

<mulder58>I love your mustach in VERCINGETORIX, it'S COOL !!!!!!!!!!

<C_Lambert> Mulder58 > thank you mulder 58,compliments are always pleasing

<thierrix> do you often drink vodkas to satisfy your thirst ? ;)
<thierrix> the Vodka is good Christophe ?!??

<C_Lambert> Thierrix > let me be with vodka, once in a while it does not hurt

<davidcornut> If I was to tell you I think you are as talented as
MASTROIANI, and I think it in all honesty, would you answer me ?

<C_Lambert> David cornut > I consider this the biggest compliment paid me ever

      <visiteur_3645> who is on evenement?

      <C_Lambert> 3645 > I cannot answer

<davidcornut> It's natural, you deserve it with all the hard work and the
talent with which you invest into each of your roles, Forever, long live
      Lambert !!

<C_Lambert> david cornut > thanks david I am really happy

<debz> Raiders of the Lost Ark being one of your fav movies, do you ever look
      >for a similar role to play?

<C_Lambert> Debz > send letters to spielberg
<C_Lambert> Indiana Jones is one of my favorite

<visiteur_3621> this is rather tedious and this has been going out since 6
      pm, poor you ....

<C_Lambert> 3621 > for me, it's not tedious, that is why I am still here

<visiteur_3377> Who is the cameraman behind you ?

<C_Lambert> Jean is the cameraman * Jean is french for John*

<zuperkool>Do you think Vercingetorix would be proud of you ?

      <C_Lambert> zuperkool > I hope

<mulder58> Your old site WWW.CHRISTOPHERLAMBERT.COM is gone ?

      <C_Lambert> Mulder 56 > my new site Christophelambert.com just re-open ,
completely transformed so I will wait for you
      <C_Lambert> for nice questions

<thierrix> Rumor is saying that you would play Gimli le dwarf in the lord
of the ring ... is it true ?

<C_Lambert> some stuff makes me laugh a lot !
<C_Lambert> you can say all you wish since you are hidden !

<visiteur_3377> Who is the girl with whom you are talking ?

      <C_Lambert> she's a journalist for 3X+NET

<marcnelson> CHRISTOPHE what is your next movie ???

<C_Lambert> marcnelson > my next movie : Vercingétorix

Oh, so people who think Connor's death was meaningless ARE "true HL
fans"?? (Notice the absence of the word "not".) But since I know

Sweetie, you have to get your attributions right. I wrote the thing

think Connor's death was meaningless. It had lots of meaning IMNSHO,
just not the one you're thinking of.

Grammar - Eau de Richie. If you (steal ?) use French, use it in the right
      manner ;)

      Eau de Richie.

Of course not, it does not need to be a highlander dear. Why would "we"
want a highlander for , when a perfectly decent Richie can be "grope"
(grope ?) (I fear what this word might mean!) around !

      A+
JoAnne - I keep seeing movies with big bad highlanders, burning down
houses, fighting frenchies all around lately; and next friday - "15 février
1838" with wonderful "grope-able" Luc Picard as Chevalier de Lorimier
starts at the theatre. Poor Chevalier, fighting those highlander regiments
      :(

Granted, this deals with an HL alum you can see every week on prime time
tv, but I thought those of you more familiar with list culture would
      appreciate the story.

I was taking care of some filing stuff last night, and a Golden Globes
'special' of some sort was on tv in the background. They were
interviewing various nominees, giving some background on them, etc. At
one point, they started talking about 'Will & Grace,' which most of you
probably know stars Eric McCormack (otherwise known as Matthew McCormick,
Immortal FBI agent extraordinaire <bg>). Eric is straight (and married),
and they were talking to him about playing a gay man on tv. He made some
comments about that (the details aren't important here), and then one of
his co-stars says...wait for it..., 'And you're *Canadian.*' I nearly
burst out laughing at that one.

whew! after a long two days I'm back. My darling
ISP (thefreeinternet.net, aka tfi) has decided that this
list and my other mailing list and newsgroup activities
constitute "commercial use" of an email account -
either that or they don't want to admit that they
really really don't like you complaining about the
      poor service they give!

So please note the new email addy in the sig. This
will be temporary as I am having a cable modem
installed at the end of the month. (too bad, tfi -
you lost a customer, and made up my mind for
      me)

ObHL ref - do you think this ever happened to
MacLeod, or did he have a business account
for the antiques business? What about the
Watchers? Did they have their own ISP so that
they could avoid having sensitive emails read
by the tech staff at non-Watcher ISPs?

They use encryption for all their email. Not just tech staff they'd need
      to guard against.

Which reminds me, why was that Watcher Data Base CD encrypted? It should
have at the very least been password protected.
