Hi all
And here we have one of the major faults with Raven: Jette said:
<<...(*Nick* introduced her to her conscience?)(Nick???)(Boy...Duncan would
have
loved that!) Dunky obviously didn't try hard enough ;-)
*Exactly* Jette! I felt insulted when this occurred...the series should
have brought the established fan base along with it and instead it seemed to
delight in going out of its way to insult it. It would have taken so
little - a pan to a birthday card from Duncan....Amanda hanging up the phone
with a "See you in Paris Maccie-Boy...."...anything to send a signal to the
established fan base that some 119 episodes had taken place and had firmly
established a prior relationship, built over 400 years....and that Amanda's
conscience had been well and truly *found* already by the time Nick came
along.

I don't think they needed to reference Duncan, but I don't think they
should have *contradicted* what happened in HL:TS either.

I don't remember romping. (And I _would_. I adore romping.) The most
energetic thing was the dizzying camera looping. And how come I don't
recall being dazzled by the theater version?

Oh, please. Some non-fan idiot actually took that touching line literally?

Oh, so they really DID make huge changes from the theater version.

Well, yes.

In the workprint, Kell & Faith are sort of stalking DM when he's heading for
Methos.

for the euros.)

Where ever Duncan ot Auntie Em might be. For me Allentown, Leigh Valley is
coming up in airports near you!
I always like that one ep ( a new one) where Joe was picking up Duncan from
the airport. Poor Charlie!
Now to my rum and coke and Flat liners. Where Kevin Beacon who is friends
with Brain May who plays with Queen who besides Freddy Mercury, sang Lords of
the Universe that is the theme song of some movie and TV series called
Highlander.

No sorry but I do think they needed to reference the 119 episodes that had
gone before. This wasn't a new character they were trying to sell. There
were points in Raven episodes where it look to me as though the original
dialogue had mentioned Duncan and it was cut out.
There were also points where it would have been very amusing for Nick to
have been compared to Duncan, it would have given the whole thing much more
depth. I often felt as though I were watching a show which was mildly in
the same universe as HL:TS, but slightly out of it too.
I can take a great deal, forgive a lot and accept things that many just
don't find acceptable but even I found Raven just went that little too far
trying to pretend that HL:TS didn't happen.

HI all
Clare said: <<..I don't think they needed to reference Duncan, but I don't

I have to say that I agree fully with Elaine on this. I accept that for the
new viewer a comparison to Duncan (a character they have no knowledge of)
would be a bit confusing...but at the very least I think that it was
possible to wink at current fans with clever messages that acknowledged ours
and HL:TS's existence. I found myself getting increasingly crankier and
crankier as it went on.."HellOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO???? Yooohoooooo????
Remember us????..."
I will never understand the logic that says that it is more important to
build a new fan base and disregard the fan base that already exists? I
would have thought that it makes more sense to use the current one to build
and extend the new one.

I know some people don't like Amanda at all (that's okay, I can't stand Dr.
Anne), but I had hoped for some mention of Amanda in Endgame - at least a
one liner! I'm hoping the changed ending in Endgame does not show that
Faith No More is still alive. I just don't know how Amanda would react to
Duncan not only having a wife all this time, but also finding her in
Duncan's bed the next time she pops in for a layover. ;)

All that rum and coke must be really burning out some brain cells
Fred. <g> The Highlander theme song is 'Princes of the Universe.'
