movie and missed it, like I did. <G> It's on this
afternoon at 4 PM EST. >>

Inspired by viewing of the above:

The symphonic music swelled and the camera lingered on the image of the dead
warlord, staring upward in astonishment at his own mortality.

It was a big TV screen. Very big. It had been in celebration of MacLeod's
purchase of the new TV set that had prompted him to invite some friends over
for an evening of historical drama and snacks.

Only he hadn't given enough prior thought to the potential content of that
drama. As a consequence, it had leapt right off the screen, and was
now sitting squarely in the barge. The Highlander had squirmed uncomfortably
in his seat from the first moment Attila had abducted the red-haired slave
      from her slaughtered village.

Cassandra rose from the sofa in the uncomfortable silence, and headed toward
the kitchen area. She suddenly stopped and turned, the hint of a
fiendish glint in her eye. "Would either of you care for a drink?"

      "No," squeaked Methos.

      There are
      > endless shots of Nick wandering empty hallways one step behind
      Morgan.(Bleech)

Really? _More_ of that boring sequence? I'm surprised because even in the
shorter part in the Amer. version, they used a bit twice--the shot of Morgan
walking up to the nurse's station trailing the gurney.

      >>> Denise smiles. End scene. <It's a vacuous sort of smile that could mean
she is please that Nick cares, pleased that anyone cares, or perhaps pleased
that he has finally left the room>>>

That last would be my bet. (After all, the actress got to dance & smooch w/
AP in her last HL stint--Bless the Child's FB--so this must have been
      appallingly dreary for her.)

      >>> Focus on Amanda, behind Nick, making a frustrated "Argh" sound as she
follows him toward the door. She grabs a vase from a chest in the hallway
and seems ready to bash Nick in the back of the head with it. <He is
oblivious>. Lucy runs up and snatches the vase away from Amanda saying "Not
the Baccarat!" . Amanda turns and storms into another room. Lucy, with
exaggerated care, replaces the vase and caresses it lovingly.>>

That sounds fitting. I'm disappointed there was no more Bert in the Euro,
      though.

      This ep was where they started pilfering HL:TS' film vault shamelessly;
there are several minor recycled bits, plus Morgan's skyscraper plummet
(which was a combo of original footage used in An Eye for an Eye & Free
Fall). The practice (which in later eps included fast shots of even DM)
struck me as lazy & tacky.

TPTB also started whittling away at HG & Q canon here (& we know where that
      ended up).

In a neat bit of meshing together, Ginjer Buchanan's HL novel, _White
Silence_, has Immortal Danny recalling that crooked cop Russell Grady--the
very guy who killed & was killed in the FB here--was part of the corruption
involved w/ Tammany Hall in post-Civil War NYC.

Also, dear Bert has a bandaged wrist (for no apparent reason) when he & Nick
meet on the street & at Grady's home. Back then, BP stated for print that a
character's bandaged wrist might eventually reveal a Watcher tattoo--might
have been interesting had they gone that way.

A pesky irk about this ep was the name of the silversmith shop--Morgan &
Son. His name was Morgan Kenworthy, ever since he was a pre-Immie in the
late 1800's. So, it should have been Kenworthy & Son.

Yes..more of that boring sequence. We see Nick approach the nurse's station..Nick wander the halls, Morgan wandering the halls...empty halls..nurses in otherwise empty halls. Maybe they were going to a spooky atmosphere.I mostly just wondered at the lack of personnel in the hospital. Even at midnight most hospitals seem to have lots of people wandering around.

I just figured she was a beastly actress<g>

      >TPTB also started whittling away at HG & Q canon here (& we know where that
      >ended up).

I rewatched the fatal falling glass several times and it still makes little sense. The idea that Nick, in a split second, not only noticed the overhead glass but considered that it could be used to drop on Morgan and that it might decapitate him, managed to hit it with his first shot and drop it precisely on Morgan while being shot at himself is ludicrous. The fact that Morgan did nothing to try and save himself is silly too...he could have *moved* for heaven's sake! Thrown himself violently in any direction in hopes of avoiding a direct hit...something!

And I still don't like the idea of a Quickening when the killing is done by a non-Immortal. I know it wasn't a break in canon..but it isn't the way *I* would have gone- especially after Fitz's statement in "Watchers" and the "feel" in Darius' church that there had been no Quickening (ie: the place wasn't scorched, the stained glass wasn't shattered, just a few chairs pushed around as in a struggle).Or..did we only get a Quickening because Nick was pre_Immortal (even if TPTB didn't know that then.)?

      Oh well..he didn't have a son either...

I always wondered how Morgan found out what he was and what the rules were? He had survived a hundred years so he must have had some skill with a sword (or he was another of those *really* lucky Immortals who never meet anyone after their had) .And, come to think of it..he was the first Immortal we saw to break the no killing (of any kind) on HG "rule" with impunity. (Of course, now someone will say that the cemetery wasn't HG...)(Or the fact that he died 100 years later proved it wasn't with impunity.)

Last night's "La Femme Nikita" (it films in Toronto) was a virtual
      Raven/HL:TS reunion.

      Of course, Carlo Rota played Immie Mario Cardoza in Raven's Full Disclosure;
he is Mick/Mr. Jones/Marty on LFN. Also, Polly Shannon, who was young Lucy
in Raven's Passion Play, plays Michelle (Nikita's maybe-sister) in LFN.
Phil Akin (who guested in Raven's Birthright & recurred as Charlie in the
series) was in last night's LFN as--however briefly--Mr. Jones. And, Kira
Clavell, who was the priestess in Little Tin God, plays operative Jasmine.
(Guess her gig on The Immortal didn't pan out.)

But..I'm pretty sure that the vacuous shop clerk tells Amanda that "Mr. Kenworthy won't be in today" .(Please ..don't make me watch it again to see.) And I think the business card shown had Morgan Kenworthy on it. So..he was still Mr. Kenworthy in 1999.

As for him using Morgan just because he liked it..I could see it if he was calling himself just "Morgan' - artists with only one name are pretty common. But he *was* using the Kenworthy. And..if he was just using Morgan ..would he use it in "Morgan & Son"...which seems very odd.

      >>> I rewatched the fatal falling glass several times and it still makes
      little sense.

I figured it was to make gun-toting Nick look like a player, even among
Immies; Nick's gun was all he had to keep him company in most of the Raven
eps. (I remember that counting the # of times he whipped it out per ep was
mildly amusing.) I thought this looked dumb, though, & it could never work.

It wasn't the way TPTB would have done it, either, as of HL:TS anyway. I
believe the Watcher CD states that if an Immie is BHd w/ no other Immie in
the vicinity, then there's no observable Quickening. And the Watchers
should know that sort of thing.

      >>>Or..did we only get a Quickening because Nick was pre_Immortal (even if
      TPTB didn't know that then.)?>>>

Surely, if Nick's presence was enough to trigger an observable Q, it would
have gone to him. (Ouch.) So, I don't buy it.

He may have been the 1st, but he wasn't the last, alas.

And Donna Lettow said on the Forum (RIP) that the writers assumed Immies
couldn't even kill mortals on HG. Unless we want to cover the Little Tin
      God/Larca's FB/temple steps/looks like an altar/the tribe's religious rites
      included decapitation ground again.

True. But her treading the straight & narrow w/ the son didn't sound right.
