News of this is also up on the PWFC Website at http://www.pwfc.org/news.shtml.

The movie is based on the Alice Munro story of the same name and is
being directed by the same woman who did a few of the Cold Squad eps
      with PW.

*YAWN* Same old, same old from Lance. Thank you for the little bedtime story
though. I really needed something to put me to sleep. Anyone else think it's
funny how everyone listed there is some 'great' person of something or
another? And I still think it's way crass (sp?) to compare this whole Save
Conner thing to Martin Luther etc, etc, etc, etc. Are any of those people
even real? Anybody ever actually talk to the, before or better yet meet them
in person? I was gonna stay out, but couldn't resist the yawn. I thought
this was over from last summer and fall, but I see Lance likes to come out
with the sock puppets and do some pretty shoddy things.

      How's the deadline coming Lance?

It may be amusing to know that the "Mike Palocheck Memorial" page is 404 Not
Found on the Freeservers site it was just moved to and so widely advertised
      to be on... hmmmmmmm.
And, these "pics" of the leaders... well, #1 I thought the "leaders" pics
were already there from the "march", and #2 on this new page they all look
suspiciously very much alike... their faces are kinda square-shaped and they
all have the same scar across their faces! <beg>

Is that why they work on IE but not Netscape? (Colleen told me that, so

Yep. Bitmaps are a Windows file-type, so it figures that they'd be

It was after my trip to the first Gathering that I got on-line. Met this
crowd of people there and got told that I should get a modem, so I did
without a week of getting back.<G> Most of those people that I met are
      still friends.

I remember meeting Red57 in the lift, and she said hey you are Elaine from
      Scotland.

I also remember Adrian's reaction when he heard my accent. He bolted
across that stage. And the roars of laughter when he talked about how much
it would cost to bring Duncan to Scotland and I said I could get them cheap
digs.<G> I'm really not sure where the nerve for that came from.

I remember the autograph queue, made a lot of friends in that queue too.<G>

I've been to 3 Gatherings, Anaheim, Baltimore, and almost every Highlander
convention in the UK, well all bar one. They all had something special
      and had special memories.

But my al time favourite con, has to be a small Robin of Sherwood con.
where there were only about 45 attendees, and a couple of guests. We had a
ball. And of course last year's Nocturnal was pretty good too.

I think the cons I have the best memories of are the ones where I made
friends who have stayed a part of my life.

      Elaine.

Aw, shucks. <G> That *was* fun meeting in the elevator. One of our AOL chat
buddies thought he broke it - we didn't bother to tell him it was just very
slow. It was a great place to meet people because the waits were always so
      long.

That was AMAZING. The Q and A at that first convention was so much fun, and
because it was the very first time, the questions were (mostly) new for both
questioners and answerers. Adrian's reaction to you was very entertaining,
and the whole crowd immediately either stood up to see or craned in their
seats to catch a glimpse of "the
      womanwiththescottishaccentiwonderifitselainenicolshesaidshewascomingfromscotla

nd." All the online people filled in their non-line <g> neighbors and you
could hear the murmuring going around the room.

I'll never forget Adrian's face when he heard your voice, Elaine. Just think,
you bewitched the man. What fun that must have been for you!

      > I remember the autograph queue, made a lot of friends in that queue too.<G>
Heck, I married the guy next to me. (you guys have heard that story already)
      ;)

That reminds me - does anyone remember the couple that got married at G1? We
were in line for Adrian's Q and A when all these hotel catering staff went by
with trays of beers, which we attempted in a friendly way to hijack. No good,
but then up the line came Stan, smiling and shaking hands. He already had a
beer, and was on the way to the wedding.

Now there is a great idea, Nina, except could we add Bacardi 151 Separators
in **tall** glasses to the menu (haven't had one since I was in my twenties
and 43 is coming up fast <g>)?

This has already been said, but TICK TOCK, Lance!!

      Subject: Alexandra in Le Placard

      Bonsoir tlm,

Alexandra is on the big screen once more. After the success of Le diner de
cons (dinner of the idiots ?) (which was quite major here in Quebec) and
which was a Cesar nominated movie (and a winner as well), she is now
co-starring in Le Placard. Thierry L'Hermitte, who played her husband in
the previous movie, now plays her ex-husband boss. She is now Pignon's
ex-wife. Pignon, being the character that was the idiot - Pignon is a
recurring character and has been present in a few French movies, although
played by different actors. Daniel Auteuil (Sade, La veuve de St-Pierre)
plays Pignon. Gerard Despardieu is also one of Pignon numerous boss. It is
      a Gaumont movie.

Le placard could probably be translated in English as "The closet" as in
the expression "Coming out of the closet". It is a comedy of course (anyone
who knows L'Hermitte would have no doubt about that; and Depardieu is
pretty good at that genre too :) while Auteuil (who also won a Cesar in
2000 for best actor in a lead role) is a very talented man.

Alexandra's career is soaring in France.

      Subject: Endgame, May 1st release

      Hi all,

May 1st is Endgame release date in France. M6 , cable specialised channel
overthere will show a special about the movie. This special will air Sunday
April 29th, during the show " Grand Ecran " (Big Screen).

      SPOILER SPACE??????????????? <G>

Okay, now that I have seen all four versions of Highlander: Endgame, the
theatrical realease **in** the theater, the <gasp!!> illegal <g> Workprint,
the "Earlier Version" from the DVD, and the final print from the DVD, I have
some thoughts just about how I feel and what I would have liked to have seen
in the theater in the first place. No doubt I will be repeating what others
have said, just have to take that risk <g> since I hardly ever post, but I am
coming out of lurkdom for this one!

I watched the behind the scenes stuff, and Christopher Lamber looked pretty
danged good to me in those interviews, IMHO. Seems to me like they purposely
made him look older and more weary for the movie to reflect how his character
was feeling. So, if they wanted to bring him back for Highlander 5 (like
they did with Sean Connery for Highlander 2) then they could. Just a thought.

I finally got to see the tartan!!! I was not able to see it in the opening
credits in the theater, but it showed up on the DVD final cut version, still
kinda light and hard to see, but at least I got to see it!!!!

The things I would have liked to have seen from the "Earlier Version" on the
second DVD and the Workprint in the theater would have been:

      1) Little things like the extra shots here and there--for example, Duncan
riding around in the taxi in New York while Connor is on his way to his shop,
just before it blew up. I mean most of the scenes that showed up on the
second DVD as formatted for TV type scenes interspersed with the
widescreen/letter box ones. It would have added to the film in the theater
rather than detracting from it. It's kind of like how I enjoy the shots over
the city with music, say in NYPD Blue, for instance, it just makes things
seem richer to me. Seems like there were a lot of those that did not make it
      to the theater.

      2) The longer and more interesting love scene with Duncan and Kate/Faith
that flashed back and forth from the past to the present while they were
making love, we women would have gotten to see more of Duncan <weg> and the
men would have gotten to see more of Kate/Faith. I just though the scene was
better before they cut it, and added more to the story.

      3) I liked how the "Earlier Version" opened with the flashbacks better than
the "10 years ago" in New York scene we saw in the theaters and in the final
      cut DVD.

      4) The (seemed to me) longer dialogue and on screen time for Jim Byrnes and
Peter Wingfield. For the life of me, I do not remember Joe's "Merry
Christmas" killing of the Watcher from the Sanctuary in the theater's version.

      5) I forget who, but the scene in the "Earlier Version" (hereafter referred
to as the "EV" since I am getting tired of typing that <g>) DVD where the guy
says "Don't cut him, I want to cut him," (or something like that) about
Duncan. Then the "I told you I was going to cut you" line makes a heck of a
      lot more sense.

      6) I could have done without the detached head with its mouth and eyes open
in **any** version in the 5 on 1 scene against Duncan (then Kell showed up
and gave us that lovely litttle bit I am talking about)!!

      7) Seemed like the fight scenes both between Connor and Duncan and then
Duncan and Kell were longer in the EV DVD, I could be wrong, but it just
seemed like there was more in them than in either the theater or the final
      cut of the DVD.

      8) Left the ending with Kate alive. I like that a WHOLE lot better, again,
I think it added more to the story, left room for another Highlander film,
and was just a better ending all around.

I don't have a DVD-ROM, but I was able to play the game from the DVD on the
TV. Kinda silly, but I got a kick out of it. I made myself a cheat sheet
<LOL> with all the right answers and slipped it inside of my DVD case <g>. I
even managed to find all of the Watcher secrets in the menus on the DVD
      <LOL!!>

Well, that's about it. Agree, disagree, ignore, whatever you like. I have
really been enjoying the posts of late.....................take care all!!
