      Ooh--I didn't recognize her, but that's a fun fact! I'm surprised she's
      still acting, though.

Now, THAT should be up for the prize-winning most inane bit of dialogue
ever. AP is cute when _breathing_. (Kolya, too.) Only time I recall the
adjective not fitting (though it could generally be replaced w/ something
much stronger & more luminous) is when AP played EDM in the bar scene of
SW's Euro version. Oh--& AP in Dark Shadows as Jeremiah Collins once he was
dead & decayed--not so cute. (Wonder if AP will be 100% cute in Tracker???
90% cute would be more interesting, w/ 10%
      skin-crawling-nausea-inducing-sanity-endangering-alien for contrast.)

You actually got mail on this??? Thank you notes, I hope. I sure saved a
      pic for a rainy day.

Aren't there a few survivors still alive too?

The Titanic movie was a love story involving fictional characters set
against the backdrop of a historical event. That's why I called it
historical fiction. The same could be said of many films set in WWII or
the Vietnam war. The Vietnam war is far more than history to me. That
doesn't make movies such as "Good Morning Vietnam" any less historical fiction.

I see two differences between the Titanic movie and exploitive "ripped from
the headlines" junk. They also apply to Lance's exploitation of a real
      incident.

The sinking of the Titanic was a terrible accident, not a deliberate
      and hideous crime.
The crime was a recent event. I'm sure for those touched by it the
memories and the pain are still all too vivid. In contrast, it's been
decades since the Titanic sank. While there are people still alive who
were touched, the events were a lifetime ago. The human mind is a
wonderful thing, and time does dull the edges of painful memories.

      >I realize that people who did not encounter an era or event would
      >see it as "history", and less personal.

Which is why I can't watch Oliver Stone films as well as a bunch of other
"historical" movies. They never get it right. Last year there was some
TV movie about the 60's, and the previews made me shudder. Been there,
done that, and it was nothing like they showed.

       >I realize that people who did not encounter an era or event would

If it was intended a humor I would agree. I don't believe it was intended
as humor, but was a deliberate exploitation in an attempt to gather
sympathy and attention. Lance can correct me if I'm wrong and I'll
apologize for misjudging him. Until he does, I stand by my criticism.

Right ... a crime like this and no, absolutely NO media coverage? I doubt it.

Lance, please direct me to the news stories about this alleged murder. A
crime this sensational would have been reported by the press. It would
doubtless have been picked up and reported by the wire services. Don't
post a story on your web page, point me to a legitimate news
organization. If they are not on-line, provide the newspapers name &
location. I'll give them a call.

Barring that, tell me where the crime occurred so I can verify the story
      with local law enforcement.

Highlander fans have in the past demonstrated their compassion and
caring. If this tale were true I'm sure they would do so again. Give us
some proof, some evidence, some actual information and you'll see
compassion. However, until you can provide independent proof of your tale
from a verifiable source please drop the pretense. I, for one, will not
be responding to you any longer.
