      Aerie Tower...

“So, did I pass the test?”

      “With flying colours, hon!”

:~:Hmm... not the words I would have chosen.:~:

“Pay no attention to your dad; he’s being an asshole again, he can’t help
      it. You did good.”

“Mais sho’, still won’t want t’be you for de next few stan-weeks, hein?”

“Remy, may I remind you that I’m your older brother?”

“Well, I’m older than _you_ and I agree with him: Noel’s going kill you.”

“Joyce! I get no support from the members of my family.”

      Flip G-11: Seacouver, USA...

The Highlander had sat quietly in the passenger seat all throughout the
drive, the mysterious black sack sitting on his lap like a trained pug. It
wasn’t until they’d reached Joe’s Bar that Duncan finally snapped out of his
      daze.

“So what’s in the bag, Mac?” Joe jerked his chin at the large package on the
      bar.

Knocking back a shot of Scotch, Duncan shrugged. “Why don’t you open it,
      Methos?”

“Oh, no, MacLeod.” The older Immortal danced back, pulling his
innocent-grad-student face on. “He gave it to _you_. For all I know, it’s a
bomb and those are hell to get back from.” To emphasize his point, he moved
      a good three barstools away.

Snorting, Duncan reached for the zipper. The bag was warm to the touch and
the muted strains of the oceanside seemed to drift from within. Cautiously,
      he lifted the flap.

Inside, floating in a large, clear cylinder filled with red liquid, was the
      biggest pearl he’d ever seen.
