The Wise say that pouring Coke around the tree first increases the
conductivity of the roots, thus the Quickening "grounds" itself in the
tree.
Or, a lot of squirrels will get really, really wired when they try to
bury acorns in Coke-soaked forest glades. I forget which.

As I recall the Coke dissolves the tree roots, and thus the Quickening is
absorbed into the ground. This may be the source of new Immortals.
