Can anyone contact someone at the listserv and tell them

I was just thinking the same thing. I would think the listserver would
be able to change to a different moderator, if they knew who to change to.

I looked up the site where those lists are maintained, and sent a
message to the list maintenance help email address to ask if the
moderator can be changed if that moderator has evidently abandoned the list.

Do we have any volunteers to be moderator?

There's also the chance that if they find out no one is overseeing the
list anymore, they may just take it down. Didn't there used to be a
Forever Knight list also on lists.psu.edu? Maybe whoever runs that
will have an idea how lists are handled there. Given the overlap
of HL and FK fandom, my guess is there are probably people here who
are on both lists and maybe one (rather then all of them) could ask
that list owner if they know anything. (some places will only let a
list exist if whoever is running it knows or has some connection to
      whoever is running the machine.)

Long ago I had moderator privileges to cover for Debbie when she was
"gone". I did check and those privileges have either expired or been
      revoked.

I would be happy to moderate - a job that requires nothing more than
tossing spammers off the rolls. No actual moderation of discussion has
      ever been enforced.

And, hey, if you're a mod, you should be able to get your hands on the
archives, right? Or are they not stored on the servers anymore?

Crassus: Of course not. It is all a matter of taste, isn't it?
      Antoninus: Yes, master.
Crassus: And taste is not the same as appetite, and therefore not a
      question of morals.
Antoninus: It could be argued so, master.
Crassus: My robe, Antoninus. My taste includes . . . both snails and oysters.

Yes, there is that risk. In my email to them (which may never get an
answer for all I know), I said the list members wanted the list to
continue, but wanted to change the moderator, who had abandoned her post
and was unreachable. Doing nothing at this point sure as heck isn't
working, and it has now become a spam magnet.

Perhaps reporting this spamming yahoo to abuse@yahoo.com would help. I have previously reported spam e-mail that came to me directly to them and they have claimed to have taken appropriate action in accordance with their policies (they may even have confirmed terminating an account, I know someone has).
