Just deleted all the previous posts, so I don't know who said what.
People have been discussing the Willow/Tara thing, and someone mentioned
that Joss had a plan for Willow/Tara and how emotional it was going to
be etc. etc. And that Kennedy was then substituted for Tara. (Or
something like that.)
Please could that person e-mail me off-list and tell me what the
original plan was??!! I came to the Buffy-verse late, and I also don't
have a lot of Internet time, so I can't go to forums and chatrooms and
such. I would, however, love to know what this was all about.
THanks!

PS - I echo the sentiment "Why are the Bab5 DVD's still so expensive?"
I missed a lot of season 4 & have season 5 taped (somewhere) but still
have not seen it. Would be easier to buy them & watch them all. Anyone
bought the Asian rip-offs? I know, not good practice to buy pirated
DVD's, but sometimes I just think, well, they're sooo much cheaper...

Don't do it. There is always something massively wrong with pirated DVDs.
Whether it's subtitles that make no sense (my father was quite deaf in one
ear; we had to turn the subtitles on), pixellating picture, out of focus
picture,
special features that don't work or cut off. It's not worth it. I've bought
dodgy DVDs before, but never on purpose. Back when DVDs first came
out, everyone was clueless. Now I know that if it says "Subtitles: Chinese
Malay Thai" - AVOID THAT DVD LIKE THE PLAGUE! There will be
something wrong with it without a doubt.
My friend Gwenda (who lives in Umbilo - isn't that near you) says you can
buy the *entire* series, complete with all the movies, for a good price -
certainly cheaper than buying one season at a time. I should have done
that with Buffy - to buy all the seasons is like R2700 - I bought each
season separately and they were upwards of R1000 *each* at the time.
Have you tried Take2? They're reasonable and the stuff gets delivered
to your house. And if there's a problem they will do their best to fix it
for you. One of my HL seasons had a disc duplicated, and they got me a
new one with so little hassle it was unbelievable.
Take2 should pay me for advertising. :)

It was. Right as usual. Except when you're not, of course. <g>

Cute, but no.
In the episode that ultimately became "Touched" (because they couldn't
do this one) Buffy was going to get a visit to the Powers where they
were going to offer to fulfill any wish of hers, as a recompense for
her being yanked out of heaven and having found a way to continue on
with her duty - even though as she planned to tell them she hadn't
done so very well.
She was going to get a "life-altering" wish - and spend the entire
episode trying to decide what to use it on. Obviously, restoring
Angel's humanity would've been one choice - another would be a pair of
really good shoes. <g>
There was an entire episode of "what-if's" planned, and at the end, as
she was telling Willow about it she was going to say something along
the lines of *really* loving her new shoes. Willow, of course, was
going to be shocked, and ask if she'd used the wish on shoes, and
Buffy would reply, "No, silly," and step out of the way to reveal
Tara, returned (with her permission) from the dead.
The spell in the final ep that activated all of the Potentials was
going to be performed by both as well. But they couldn't get Amber
back, for whatever reason, and Joss said he'd always intended Willow
to finish the show with her girlfriend by her side, alive, so instead
they went with Kennedy, as they thought she was the best suited of the
Potentials for her.

I'd heard the first part of that (the shoes/Tara story). I think the problem
with getting Amber back initially was that she was offered scenes relating
to The First which eventually ended up going to the actress/character who
had foretold her own character's imminent death a few episodes before. I the
scenes, the 'girl' taunts Willow in the library, saying Tara is in Hell. In
the original idea, the scenes would have had Amber as Tara/The First in her
form bemoaning her fate to Willow, but Amber apparently felt that if this
was to be the last appearance in the show that it would under-sell the
character to her fans and the exit she's already made. I don't think that
was Joss' intention, but if true, it's easy to see Amber's point of view. To
my knowledge there's no bad feeling because of Amber's decision and the
version of the shoes/Tara reveal story I heard was that it might well have
yet appeared if Buffy had continued into another season.
