The "highland" one on Lothian Road is quite spectacular.

That is my question too. I know that we have been told over and over
that the franchise can not survive "merely" on the pocketbooks of the
existing fans- that the appeal must be broadened. OK...I can see that. I
would have assumed that meant keeping the old fans while adding new
ones. Apparently, however, it actually means pissing on the old fans and
praying that a lot of new fans replace them. When has that ever worked?

If the rumors of what is gong to happen in "The Source" are true, I
think it can only mean one of two things:

One, it might mean that "The Source" is meant to be the final Highlander
product. The fate of every existing character will have been decided and
the story brought to some kind of a close. Old fans will at least know
what became of their old friends and can move on with their lives and
into new fandoms. New fans could be interested in the story and go back
and buy all the old DVDs just to find out why they should care about all
      those bodies on the ground.

Two, it might mean that TPTB have decided to reset the HL universe by
deciding the fate of every known character- opening the way for future
stories that use all new characters. New fans will love the new
characters without resentment about the fates of the old ones. Old fans
will be so grateful to see a Quickening again that they will forgive
TPTB for all those earlier bodies on the ground.

Three, <EG> TPTB have gone totally bat shit crazy.

Now, to be honest, the ***** of *** isn't too unexpected. *** is a
      ****** and ******* do *** eventually. ***** *** in a ***** of ***** is
not a bad way for an old ******* to ***. OTOH, the ***** of ****** is
just plain ridiculous. ****** would never put ****** in a position
where ** might *** without some plan of ******. You don't live to be
**** by making yourself ****** ****** in a frontal assault. What's in it
for ***? Nothing that I can see. And, of course, the idea that ******
becomes ***** as a ****** is about as stupid as it was the first time
around. Thanks for nothing would be my reply.

I'm honestly curious about what TPTB are thinking (assuming they are
      thinking at all).

Of course, if the rumors are false and *** and ****** don't *** and
      ****** doesn't ****** ******, then I'll apologize for calling TPTB bat
shit crazy - unless they come up with even more awful plotlines <eg>
