        1. Highlander DVD sets - which to get? (2)

I don't know about the packaging elsewhere, but I was really not impressed
with the packaging for seasons 5, 6, and Raven. The discs are packaged
so that one is placed at the top half of the box, and the other at the
bottom, but the top half of the bottom disc overlaps the bottom half of
the top disc (..). It makes the overall package narrower, so shipping
costs are reduced and more units can be placed on the store shelf, but
in my opinion the chance of cracking a disc upon removal is greatly increased.

I agree that the design for those sets was bad. The Pretender season sets
are double sided discs, so a whole season fits on 4 discs. They don't have
as many extra features as the HL sets, but you get the small packaging
without the `packed on top of each other' style of the HL sets.

One of the Quantum Leap boxed sets also has the double-sided discs and
it's great! (I also have The Pretender, of course.)

I dislike the American packaging of both the Highlander sets and the Angel
sets. They fold out and fold out ad infinitum. How are you supposed to
open the things? Lay them out on a table and then struggle to get the DVD
loose? I much prefer the British packaging (at least of the Angel),
      where they
have the DVDs in pockets in a booklet-type package, with soft material in
the pocket so you can just slide the DVD in and out without having the
      manhandle the thing.

      - Marina. (Whose season 5 is missing a disc.) (I have two of disc 3.) (No
disc 5.) (Disc 5 has *my* episode.) (My online store is going to order a
replacement.) (Damn right.) (I want to see Marina tie Richie to her bed
      again.)
