Just to let those who attended G3 in Denver some years back at the Regency
Hotel... It was shut down today by the city of Denver as being unfit for
habitation. We could have told them that years ago.

LOL! Wow, I remember that place. What, one out of the 3 elevators
worked? The bathroom ceiling crashed in on one of my friends (Jo &
Sandy's room, I think?); the rooms didn't smell that great either &
the room service sucked bigtime... Too funny! Fun con though!
Thanks for the interesting info, Jody. :)

The local (Canadian) Best Buy has seasons 3 and 4 (9-disc) and season 2
(8-disc), so it appears the extended versions are coming to Canada. I
already cracked the plastic on my season 4 (8-disc) that I picked up at
Futureshop, so I can't take it back. However, the price difference between
the two versions (for season 4, at least) is a whopping $25! I think I'll
forego a commentary DVD for that much money.

Interesting to note that the Futureshop (Canadian) lists Highlander under
SciFi/Fantasy, while the Best Buy (US) website lists Highlander under
      General Horror...

What in the world took them so long? The last time we were there, I
remember the waitress at a nearby restaurant being surprised that we were
staying at that hotel. She thought it had been closed down already.

Today? I thought that it had been condemned years ago - that's what I
remember hearing when I went to GII.

Here's the Rocky Mountain News article on it:
      http://makeashorterlink.com/?S22742F18

It seems it's used for low-income housing now, and the current owner
bought it a few years ago.

Does anyone here know if there's a way to archive all the messages in a
Yahoo! newsgroup. I need to save a ton of messages from a group and do it
quickly. Any quick, easy (or even complicated) way to do it????

GIII was held at Hotel Hell. There are even a few con buttons floating
around that say "I Survived G3 at The Regency Hotel" or something to that
      effect.

That was a bad bad bad bad bad hotel.

Well I hope they did a LOT of work on it before they let people start
moving in. That place was a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Were G II and G III held at the same hotel? I was at G II, and don't
remember any problems other than a long unheated corridor from the lobby to
the event rooms. Have I gone that senile?

Of course, your analogy doesn't add up. I spend time interviewing, writing,
designing and distributing something and you think I should do all that for
free as well as earn a decent living doing something else.

On the other hand.... I simply ask, on behalf of a friend, if someone has a
URL or download to help them save some cherished memories from a newsgroup
that is being discontinued tonight. Someone who genuinely *needs* not
      information, not just *wants* it.

And what do you do? You either lie about knowing how to do it or make some
facile attempt at irony about charging for information no matter what.
Despite the fact it would take all over about 30 seconds to type it.

I sometimes wonder how it must feel to be that pissed-off at the world all
      the time.

Thanks to everyone else who offered ideas.
