I'm not sure if if this is even going to get through, haven't had any
      list mail since last evening.

As most of you know, my mom has been in a rehabilitation facility since
late November 02. She has been going down hill from about the middle of
August. As of 1 1/2 days ago, she terminally ill. They did a MRI today
to see how bad the illness has spread and it is all places of her body.
It started in her lungs. I haven't told DeeDee yet. I want to take over
to see her Grandma , before she gets much worse. My mom hasn't given
her prognosis. that is one of the reasons I don't want to tell her
until Monday. I will tell her that Grandma has become very ill and isn't
going to get well this time. I don't think she needs to know that it is
what it is. I do not know how this little girl is going to handle this
again. My mom is the only grandma she has been around since she was 2.
She did see Les' mom when we had the memorial when he died late
December '99. She was 6 then and 10 now, I really think she doesn't
need to know just what grandma's illness is. Her therapist did say I
needed to tell her something as I'm not sure when I will need to be over
there on the coast. I do have 2 girlfriends here that will be happy to
help out w/ DeeDee. I do know she is going to be a handfuls though. She
was really a monster child last school w/ her revisiting daddy's death.
It took a long of work w/ me, our doctor, finding her therapist and
getting her back in Mother Oak's child. (meeting place for kids that
have lost some one, or losing some one do to trauma or illness). I am
to call MOC monday to talk to the person in charge. I am going to ask
about have a place for her even if the sessions have started.

List moms, can you put me no mail until I find out just what is going to
happen w/ where mom is going to be. I'm sure if when mom know just does
find out. she will want go home. She is on oxygen now. she is still on
a low dose of pain meds and this more than likely that the visit on
Sunday, will be the last time she see grandma Rose. I didn't think she
needed to see her dad when Les died. I wanted her to remember her dad
alive , not seeing dad dead being her last memory of him. I don't
think she needs to watch grandma getting sicker.
If my mom is going to be able to go to her home, there is going to be
hospice involvement. Some one in the family has to be there 24/7.
      Goddess, I'm rambling.
Please contact me off lists as I'm going to go no mail until I know
where and how this all these things are going be worked out.
Prayers for a painless passing for mom would be very much appreciated.

      Thank you All,
      Danni

Damn... Danni, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that we're all
terribly sorry, and our thoughts are with you and your family. I'm not
sure what more I can say, so I'm sorry if that doesn't feel like much
consolation, but maybe some of our other readers will be able to come
      up with something.

Well, from what I've seen of your sites, you could have everything back up
in a snap if you limited yourself to what YOU actually own.

Wow nice touch Nina.. Anne has links for the convenience of many of us ..she
has photo's from past cons which she owns for us to enjoy. She has Leah's
artwork. I guess its then jealousy. I have been on this board a long time. I like
to know if you ever said any thing nice? How sad you must be to be so unhappy
all the time and never satisfied.. Try some sugar it might make your day a
      little pleasant.

I don't think there is enough sugar in all the cane plantations
of the world for that, Mary.

Annie/Leah have (or had) MANY things on their webpages. Some are even
Highlander-related. If anyone really wants to debate the legal & moral
merits of them one by one, please feel free to start right up & I'll join in
as my time & interest allow. However, I have a nap planned for this
afternoon & a busy schedule next week, so....

Actually, I am having a perfectly lovely day, & Annie's travails don't enter
into it one iota. (Neither do you, Mary, & neither does Jette. Or your
mutual psycho-babble. FYI--I live next to a pineapple field, sugar cane
being grown at lower elevations. Both can rot your teeth.) Should anyone be
interested in a brief personal note, 5 years have passed since I was treated
for thyroid cancer; I just finished rather unpleasant testing that resulted
in a welcome finding of no recurrence.

Nina [Anyone needing info on thyroid cancer should start internet research
at the ThyCa website, an organization started by thyca survivors.
http://www.thyca.org/ The site offers exhaustive info re: diagnosis,
surgery, radiation, LID, recurrence, research, & much more; valuable links
to other reliable resources, internet & otherwise; several email support
groups; one-on-one email support; toll-free telephone support; an annual
conference coming right up (held in Houston Oct. 24-26 this year) &
featuring dozens of medical experts from around the country; & local
in-person support groups meeting in communities nation-wide (one of which I
      run).]

Good news for Ashton Press now ... the greater majority of our sites are now
back and online and we'll be announcing a couple of new Highlander zines
shortly. Most of the links haven't been tested yet but they are undergoing testing
right now (or will be shortly) thanks to the kindness and generosity of
volunteers. And our web hosting company tripled our space allotment so lots of space
for many more photos, cartoons and fanfics to come your way.

Yes, it is, isn't it? I'm amazed it all went so smoothly and so quickly. But,
after 22 years in the computer business, I had, of course, kept my own
back-ups, so it was mainly just a matter of re-establishing the various account
settings and then the time it takes to upload 300 or so megabytes of graphics
since the great majority of our site is taken up by Leah's artwork and my photos.
