Hello,
My name is Loreal and I'm new to the list! I just found this list kind =
of by accident and figured since I'm a fan fo HL, then I'd join up! Just =
figured I would introduce myself to you guys and ask a question provided =
it's not a stupid one...
With Highlander the series, does anyone know where or if I am able ot =
get ahold of copies? I haven't seen it on television since some time in =
2000 or perhaps even further back to some time in 1999 when I caught the =
final episode of the sixth season. I was curious to know if it were =
possible to find copies of the series on VHS or in any other formats.
I'm also working on my first HL fanfic, kind of a twisted one but pretty =
understandable. It's based primarily on Duncan and how he'll deal with a =
particular situation which sort of falls in to his lap if you will. I'll =
post the first part once I have it figured out just how I want the last =
part of the first chapter to be worded.
Thanks,
Loreal

It's available on Amazon.com in season blocks for $99.95 per
season. Or you can go to the official Highlander Store
{http://www.highlander-official.com}.

Please don't post fanfic to HIGHLA-L. We have a fiction list for
that. Just use the same subscriptions instructions but use 'HLFIC-L'
instead of 'HIGHLA-L'.

Sorry about the mistake I made in my earlier post, and thank you for
correcting me on it! Thanks also for the information on where/how I may be
able to obtain HL on tape. I really appreciate the help!

It's interesting how much the price varies depending on who's
selling it. Barnes & Noble is $80.98, I think Best Buy is $57 and
www.deepdiscountdvd.com has it listed for $53.99.
Has anyone gotten a new HL Store catalog reciently? I heard a mumble
that there's a new one and it has a mention of HL5 in it. But I'm
not sure if the comment was a joke or real. Given some of the other
things that have come out of the franchise it could be either.

I just looked at my latest one, Heidi, (the one with Adrian/Duncan kicking a
sword away with his right foot, kinda backwards, misty greenish cover), and I
can find no mention of The Source. So, I went to the "Official" site, to see
if there is a newer catalogue. Same cover on what they have on the site. I
ordered one anyhow, just to see if there is something newer they have just
not updated to the site yet. We shall see.
I know that was of **entirely** no help whatsoever. LOL.
Forever Peace,

That sounds sounds like the one that's been out for quite awhile.
The one I heard mentioned was a new one that only reciently came
out. So if it does exist it probably has only made it to some
people so far.

Yeah, there's more than a mumble, and it goes like this. Copied from
alt.tv.highlander --
Posted by FaithBeast:
I just got the HL 2003 catalog (they won't leave me alone) and low and behold,
on page 1, I find this;
"There's a legend that tells where the immortal race began. It's called The
Source. Lost or perhaps hidden for countless millennia its whereabouts is a
mystery of such compelling magnitude that every immortal is haunted by it.
Which begs the question, what do you imagine an immortal would risk to find it,
to at last know the truth of who, or what he really is?"
"Such is the titillating premise that fuels the new HIGHLANDER feature film, so
titled, "HIGHLANDER: The Source." Hot off the success of "HIGHLANDER: End Game"
we're again joining forces with Miramax Pictures only this time to follow four
new charismatic Immortals as they quest to locate the Holy Grail of their
world. They'll face unimaginable challenges, confront unspeakable personal
demons, and endure breathtaking adventure until finally they..." and it cuts
off there ...
And here's Gillian Horvath's response:
GH
<== not involved with "The Source" but knows the synopsis of the thing is not
the thing.
So it sounds like "The Source" is in fact on its way big-time (bad pun, no
biscuit) -- but so far as Gillian knows, it's not about -- that thing they're
calling an idea in the catalogue... Leave it to The Store to show things in
their worst possible light, *and* to make things up out of whole cloth if they
think it'll help 'em sell more goodies. I hear they're really pushing a new
sword...? coat...? right now that comes with the complete set of season seven
(yes, you heard me *sigh*) DVD's thrown in *for free*.
The mind boggles, it just -- boggles... :)

I got the new catalog yesterday. I noticed this right off: for every 2
Video collections on VHS that you buy, they'll throw in another one free.
Sounds like they have too much stock, but at 139.00 a season (oops, S6 is
only 119.00) it's kinda steep. On DVD they still only have S1 and the 13
'Best of Collection' - now if they would only let me choose which episodes
*I* thought were best... Both sets are 99.00.
If they put the series out on DVD, and priced it like Buffy (42.00 / full
season at buy.com), I'd find a way.
The catalog also has several pages with the new 'source' symbol embroidered
or painted on coats, jackets, hats, luggage, tees, but not on the many
swords yet. It's a little disquieting to think that they are going ahead
with another movie... especially one about origins. I don't want to know!

Highlander videos (& oodles of other HL stuff) are available far cheaper on
Ebay--usually used but sometimes brand new. Just search for Highlander.

Last I heard--Zeist. Can't DPP EVER learn not to screw w/ certain things?

In my opinion, the only mystery of compelling magnitude in the HL sphere is
HOW Highlander:The Series managed to be so damned good DESPITE the
connection to DPP.
> Which begs the question, what do you imagine an immortal would risk to

The question I see begged is--is there ANYTHING DPP won't do to make a buck
off Highlander's carcass?

Ooh--that's funny.

Titillation vs.fear-induced nausea. Not the same at all.

Right--the same folks DPP blamed for the problems w/ Endgame. Brilliant.

First off, I'm honestly intrigued by the teaser
premise. That said, I too am nervous about the
outcome, given DPP's track record in the past (makes
one wish that GW didn't give up his stake in the
thing).
Anyway...

I agree. Overall, it made money, but it was a very
depressing gross in general, if you look at the
figures on the Internet Movie Database. It's not
something I'd point out when promoting a film.

I agree here, too. Not only do DPP have this annoying
knack for supposedly losing control of their own
products, but they're lining up to be gouged AGAIN!!!
Anyone out there know their e-mail addresses??? I'd
like a word with them, assuming it would get through
their apparently thick skulls.

I'm intrigued by the teaser... but I also know that just because someone
decides to *look* for something, doesn't mean it's going to be found.... I'm
betting the story is in the journey......
