I read that too fast & got an image of AP's Mr. Smiley, in _Dead Men Can't
      Dance_.
["This is Mr. Smiley [wagging his smile-painted index finger]. He has an
      older, much larger brother."]

One of life's oddities is that Hawaii is Spam-capital of the world.
Apparently, Spam was the 1st canned meat shipped over here, & people got
addicted. Hawaii consumes more Spam per capita than anyplace. We have
recipe contests w/ Spam _dessert_ entries & Spam sculptures. Oh, the
      shame....

Every time we go there (yay! We're going again in September!) we're struck by the fact that Spam-maki (a kind of sushi roll) is available in grocery stores. This just stumps us.

OBHL- would Duncan ever eat Spam? More importantly, would he like it, or would he spit it out?

This is hysterical! Can you point me (offline, probably) to a good Hawaiian Spam recipe site?

There is no such thing as a *good* Spam recipe - Hawaiian or otherwise.

      http://www.myhawaiionline.com/articles/spam.htm
      http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0935848495/inktomi-bkasin-20/102-4306

      And this one --
      http://www.brown.edu/Students/Brown_Hawaii_Club/About_Hawaii/spam.html
which touts--"Hawai'i is said to consume 40% of all the Spam in the world."
Whew--I was just waiting for someone to jump on me for wildly "speculating"
about Hawaii's Spam consumption, so I'm glad to see corroboration. The site
starts off w/ a recipe for Spam Musubi. And it's worth visiting for the
_astounding_ collection of Spam Haiku alone. Here's my fav from there--
      Oh tin of pink meat
I ponder what you may be:
      Snout or ear or feet?

      Wendy--

      >Wendy(You can use canned ferret in place of Spam in most recipes.)

How DO they get the ferrets in those teeny cans....

      Red--

      Also, MacDonalds.

      >OBHL- would Duncan ever eat Spam? More importantly, would he like it, or
      would he spit it out?

He ate real sushi (well, as real as sushi would be in Paris) in Black
Tower's teaser, in a seduction scene that (the quality of their breath
aside) rivaled season 3 & Dr. Anne for lack of CHEMISTRY. But, I think he'd
just poke wonderingly at Spam in ANY form. Unless it reminded him of his
      secret longing for haggis.

Methos probably invented Spam. To go w/ beer.

Nina (I can hear Peter Wingfield intoning "Oh tin of pink meat....)

      So, Wendy:
How do you feel about those little canned Vienna Sausages?
