      Greetings all,

I'm working in Oklahoma City at Will Rogers National Airport now. Going to
the Hotel, I see an Oklahoma State License plate "Luckeee".

I then think of the Clown in the Lady and the Tiger episode, when Amanda
      makes her first Highlander appearance.

The scene is from Duncan is riding on horseback, standing on the horse and
throwing knives at a target and "misses" hitting the AC power mains. He was
able to escape to his freedom from his circus captures. What are the gun
laws in Paris? The loin trainer was supposed to be a crack shoot if our Dark
      Angel escapes.

Can't wait to buy a DVD player to see the new DVD episodes.

      Peace ~~ Fred

What is the average attention spanned of staff meetings? Whole studies to
measure employees' responses to their bosses. The studies have developed
pills to help us pay attention?

I thought riddlen had the opposite effect on adults. Or what about adults
like me who will never grow much. Like Merlin, *I* grow younger, just ask my
      kids, "Dad, GROW UP!"

The address to send your LISTSERV commands to is

If your posts to HIGHLA-L are being "submitted to the moderator of the
HIGHLA-L list" please check out the section below titled "WHAT TO DO
IF THE LISTSERV SAYS YOU ARE NOT SUBSCRIBED TO HIGHLA-L:"

      -----
All of you received the Membership Rules when you first subscribed to
this list so I'm not going to repeat them here but I will hit a few
high points. Also included is a few LISTSERV commands to change your
      subscription to this list.

No Flaming Is Allowed. (see note)
We have strict Spoiler Rules for the current first-run season.
Please don't post a message about any current season episode until
after you have read the Welcome message (this contains all the
          rules).
This is a -private- mailing list. Do not forward information posted
on this mailing list without the -original- author's permission.

ALL ADS listing items for SALE, no matter how minor, MUST be cleared
        through the list owner FIRST.

      NOTE:
        Flaming: adj. (possible origin: Webster's 3.intensely emotional;
ardent; passionate) Usage on Internet: intensely emotional and very
derogatory remarks about an individual, a group, or a dearly held
belief system (religious beliefs, politics, sexual orientation,
certain TV series, etc.). To insult, treat with scorn or great
        disrespect.
Flame remarks are usually empty of any actual facts, just
emotionally charged opinions and sometimes obscenities.

Flame-bait: derivative of Flaming (see above). Any remark, which in
itself does not qualify as a Flame, but because of trigger words,
irritating adjectives or phrases (usually used in a rude manner) is
almost always guaranteed to elicit Flames from people who read the
        message.
      END NOTE

      BUT REMEMBER:
                Disagreements make for lively debate,
and lively debate is what keeps this list
                           INTERESTING!!!

Do NOT send any 'public service announcements' unless they are related
to Highlander. BTW if you receive a computer virus report check it
      against <http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html> before passing it
      on.

                ********************************************
HOAXES, VIRUS WARNINGS, SPAM OF ANY TYPE,
INCLUDING SALES, CHAIN LETTERS AND DONATION
REQUESTS, WILL NOT BE TOLERATED ON
                HIGHLA-L or HLFIC-L.
                ********************************************

Do NOT post 'test' messages. If you aren't receiving mail from the
list, send email to ME and I'll look into it.

To send a message to the group, simply address it to
HIGHLA-L@LISTS.psu.edu. Also, you should be able to reply to any
message from the list as you would normally reply to a message from a
      single person.

If your messages are not being posted to the LIST, check to make sure
that you are NOT including the message headers from any message that
you might be replying to. A message that contains (in the body of the
message) any unaltered email header that includes the address
of the list will be bounce to the errors queue.

      <<To: HIGHLA-L@LISTS.PSU.EDU (Multiple recipients of list HIGHLA-L)

The reason that these didn't blow up this message is because I
preceded them with '<<' on each line.

As LIST-owner, I reserve the right to remove anyone from the list who
violates the rules (they are in the Welcome message that you will
      receive when you subscribe).

                          USEFUL LISTSERV COMMANDS

To change your subscription options to stop receiving the list of a
period of time (i.e. for a vacation or finals week): send mail to
LISTSERV@LISTS.psu.edu with only the following line in the body of the
message (the Subject line is ignored):

       SET HIGHLA-L NOMAIL

To change (or to reset) your subscription options to receive the list
as separate email messages (default): send mail to
LISTSERV@LISTS.psu.edu with only the following line in the body of the
message (the Subject line is ignored):

       SET HIGHLA-L MAIL

To change your subscription options to receive the list in a daily
digest: send mail to LISTSERV@LISTS.psu.edu with only the following
line in the body of the message (the Subject line is ignored):

       SET HIGHLA-L DIGEST

To change your subscription options to receive the list as short
indexes of all postings (you can then retrieve the messages that you
are interested in reading): send mail to LISTSERV@LISTS.psu.edu with
only the following line in the body of the message (the Subject line
      is ignored):

      SET HIGHLA-L INDEX

If you want a prefix to show up on your subject lines to help identify
which message come from HIGHLA-L then send email to
LISTSERV@LISTS.psu.edu with only the following line in the body of the
      message (Subject line is ignored):

      SET HIGHLA-L SUBJ

The prefix [HL] will appear at the beginning of each Subject line of
all new messages from HIGHLA-L (The string 'Re:' will appear before
      the prefix on replies).

If your mailer does not provide the mailing address of the person who
sent a post (usually PC and Mac mailers) you might want to change your
subscription option to get the headers also placed in the body of the
message. To do this: send mail to LISTSERV@LISTS.psu.edu with only the
following line in the body of the message (the Subject line is
      ignored):

      SET HIGHLA-L DUALhdr

Be careful and edit these headers out of any reply because they may
cause problems when you try to post the reply (the LISTSERV software
may fail to post your message).

To Unsubscribe: send mail to LISTSERV@LISTS.psu.edu with only the
following line in the body of the message (the Subject line is
      ignored):

       SIGNOFF HIGHLA-L

Note: DO NOT send mail to HIGHLA-L@LISTS.psu.edu to unsubscribe.

It may seem that your SIGNOFF didn't take effect because you are still
getting posts. There is probably a backlog of messages in HIGHLA-L's
queue that were posted before you sent the SIGNOFF command. Those will
continue to come until it gets to the timestamp when you unsubscribed.
This can take several hours or might even take up to 24 depending on
      how backed up everything is.

*WHAT TO DO IF THE LISTSERV SAYS YOU ARE NOT SUBSCRIBED TO HIGHLA-L:

When trying to send one of these commands if you receive back a
message saying that you are not subscribed to HIGHLA-L this means
that your current outgoing email address has changed since you
subscribed to the list. It is very common for system administrators
to do this without notifying their users. The way to straighten this
out is to SUBSCRIBE from your new address and SIGNOFF from the
old. If you can't SIGNOFF from the old address please notify me and
        I'll remove it.

If you post a message to the list and then receive a message stating
that your message has been forwarded to the moderator (me) that is
another indication that your outgoing email address has changed. I
will forward your message to the list if I can determine that you
are currently subscribed under any address (if the message doesn't
violate any of the Rules). Send me email and we will straighten it
out so that you can post unrestricted again.

The latest version of the FAQ is always available through me. The Web

every two to three months (more frequently if necessary) and I have no
control as to when any other Web site updates their version.

Ugh. This is perhaps my least favorite episode (no wait)("Birthright" is my least favorite)(no)(It was "Cloak and Dagger".)(Hey..maybe I'm not the best one to be writing these things.)(But if I won't do it..who will?)(Then again...maybe it doesn't need doing.)(I haven't even gotten to the Paris episodes yet.)(Some of them stink too.)(Maybe "Passion Play" isn't so bad.)(No.)(It's bad.) I remember that, when it originally aired, coming right after the sucky "Cloak and Dagger", I almost gave up on Raven.(Which time was that, Wendy?)(I almost gave up so often.) Only the lure of Val Pelka in the next episode kept me going.(And..boy..didn't that turn out great.)(Not.). Now ..after having seen the Eurominutes..I have to say...nope...didn't change my opinion at all. Except..maybe I disliked Lucy even more. (If that was possible.)

      *********************************
      Passion Play

Scene 1. Amanda is playing with her fan. Nick and Lucy arrive after Lucy has been in jail. They talk. Off Amanda's red fan, a flashback begin:

American: Cut to backstage 30 years ago. A photographer is taking a picture of Marco and Lucy.

Euro: Marco and Lucy are on stage taking bows. Sweeping shot of the audience applauding wildly. More bows. Marco kisses Lucy and says, "They loved you, Lucy". She is excited and happy. Shot of the audience again - Amanda is there applauding like everyone else. Then - cut to photographer backstage.

Scene 2: Flashback continues. Marco and Lucy backstage...Marco feels an Immortal approaching and Amanda appears. Kiss kiss. Lucy is obviously jealous. Marco reassures Lucy and Lucy walks off alone to allow Marco and Amanda to chat. Amanda and Marco talk ..blah blah blah..until:

Marco: "We had that Springtime in Paris..and she knows that I still remember."

American: Cut to Lucy sitting at a bar having wine and Wilson approaching her.

      Euro:
M: "We had that Springtime in Paris..and she knows that I still remember."
      A: You have such a poet's soul."
M: "I should go after her."
A:" You know what? Let me. OK?"
      M: "OK"

<Amanda walks away. Cut to Lucy drinking wine at the bar. Amanda walks up from behind her and proceeds to sit on the next bar stool>

A: <smiling>"If it would make you feel any better, you can shoot me."
L: <sourly> "You'd just get back up" <pause> "You slept with him"
A:" So much for small talk."
      L: "Life's too short...for some of us."
A:"Do you really want to know?"
      L: "Yes." <pause>"No. I already do."
A: <sincerely>"Marco is really proud of you. Your performance tonight was..magnificent. Beautiful."
      L: "Marco's words."
A:" No. Darling. *Your* voice. It was magic."
      L: "Did you love him?"
A: "Maybe. A very long time ago."
      L: "Long for whom?"
      A: "Lucy..I'm not the competition."
      L: "Aren't you?"
A: "No. He loves you. You won. I'm happy for you both."

<Amanda feels an Immortal approaching. She looks around. Wilson has entered the bar and is walking toward them.>

      A: <to Lucy> "I'll be back."

<Amanda goes to meet Wilson, stopping half way across the room from Lucy.>

      A: "Wilson."
W: "How long has it been, Amanda?"
A: "The Old Globe and I was probably the only one *not* throwing tomatoes."

<Wilson and Amanda do that air kiss-kiss thing actors supposedly do>

W: "It was the writer's fault."
A: "It always is." <she moves to leave> "Be good."

<Amanda walks away in the direction Wilson came.>

Back to..Wilson approaching Lucy at the bar.

Scene 3: Amanda's apartment. Lucy is mad that neither Nick or Amanda will agree to kill Wilson for her.

L:"To hell with both of you" <Cut to outside shot of police station. ..then to interior>

American: Wilson, in suit and tie, is talking to the female cop who processed Lucy the night she was arrested.

      W: <wearily> "Up since 5..in court......"

      Euro:
Cut to outside shot police station. .. then to interior. Wilson enters, doing his hammy best to look like a nerdy lawyer. He walks past a couple of cops bringing in a hooker- who comments that she would like him to be her lawyer. <wink wink nudge nudge> Wilson wanders around the room, scouting and also trying to look like he belongs there. He sees the female cop he needs to talk to. He approaches and hands her a business card which she reads.

Cop: "Pro Bono? I don't remember you."
Wilson: "Oh. They transferred me from upstate last month.<goes into his weary act> "Up since 5..in court..."

Scene 4: After Lucy has accidently tried to shoot Nick at the theatre, everyone is at Amanda's.

      American:

A:"What the hell was she thinking? What were you thinking?"

      Euro:
      L: <upset>"Nick. I could have killed you."
      N: "But you didn't."
      A:" But she could have!"
N: "Amanda! She was aiming for me. If I'm not pissed, you shouldn't be."
A:"What the hell was she thinking? What were you thinking?"

      Things that annoyed me<eg>

The Euros establish that Amanda was sitting in the audience during Lucy and Marco's performance..yet Marco gave no indication that an Immortal was there...and he seemed surprised when she arrives back stage. He appears to sense her only when she gets within about 10 feet. Is his radar defective?

The bar scene. First..where did Amanda come from? She arrives *behind* Lucy even though we can see that the door is to the side of the bar (where Wilson later enters.)Two doors? Ok...I'll accept that if I have to.

Still in the bar. Lucy has been living with Marco for some unspecified time..long enough, one would imagine, to recognize that intense-yet-vacant stare of an Immortal sensing another Immortal. Yet..when Amanda senses Wilson entering the bar..Lucy apparently doesn't catch that Wilson is Immortal too. Surely she wouldn't have chosen another Immortal to use make her husband jealous, would she? Or would she..seeing as Marco had Amanda..did Lucy think Wilson was just revenge? If so..she is stupider than she originally seemed.

Still in the bar....Amanda seems to have a history with Wilson and seems to imply (later) that Wilson was a dangerous jerk from way back. So..why did Amanda leave Lucy sitting alone in the bar with Wilson? Amanda didn't even go back and warn Lucy to watch out for Wilson..she just left. (So much for her "I'll be back")

The Quickening. Oh...man..was that horrible or what? Does EG cringe every time she watches it? I do. Please..please..don't make me watch that puppet routine again. <shudder>

The only scene that moved me ( Beyond the horrified shudder mentioned above <eg>) was the bit with Lucy and Nick huddled in the dark alley outside the theatre waiting to see who would win the fight- Wilson or Amanda. They see the Quickening and don't know who is still alive. It showed, in a very simple way the reality of living with/loving an Immortal...the waiting to see if the loved one comes home again. Of course, HL:TS did it first and better..but it was nice here too.

Wendy(Shouldn't Amanda have whacked Wilson just for being such a stereotype?)

Any way, I just wanted to add that I too was glad to see the extra footage in the film. My faviorite added scene - I think this was in the workprint - was the pouring of the wine onto the ground by Methos. Methos had just finished telling Duncan about the sanctuary and that it was destroyed the night before, then he dumps his "red" wine out of his glass and the camera catches it spill to the ground. For me that was really great symbolism. Of course, there are many more added scenes that were awsome too, but I really liked the symbolism in this one scene. It really stood out for me. Oh well just my 2 cents worth. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Mar 2001 15:43:58 -0500 From: Sandy Fields Subject: Re: Eurominutes_ Raven - Passion Play Ya know... I watched all of the Raven episodes, and none of them really stuck in my mind. They were just average stuff for me. Nothing of note worth remembering. However, I'm enjoying reading Wendy's eurominutes... maybe just because it gives me some 'new' HL to ponder -- such as it is. And I agree about the scene with Nick and Lucy waiting in the alley to see who won. That was some pretty powerful stuff. Keep 'em coming Wendy. I'm not really responding to the euros you're posting because I don't remember the episodes. But I'm enjoying the read. :-) -- Sandy ------------------------------ End of HIGHLA-L Digest - 15 Mar 2001 to 16 Mar 2001 (#2001-98) ************************************************************** --------
