      Hi,

Can someone provide me the information to Subscribe and Unsubscribe.
I've been part of this list for so long, I can't remember the
information to do this. Please send offlist.

      Big Thanks,

I think you should go on the tour if you want to. I'm
pretty positive those age ranges are only guidelines.
Sometimes older people generally go for comfort and
younger people go for budget. I'm sure McBackPackers
thinks the same thing. You will be staying in hostels
(which are really good over there) plus riding on a
bus all day long. I think that's what they are trying
to let you know, vaguely. I'm 44 and I would probably
go on this tour. If you e-mail them, I'm sure they
will let you know if they positively won't let you go
and could suggest another tour, maybe with the same
      company.
I didn't need to get started on this topic. For two
months, I've been having age-related hissy fits. What
is with these companies? Do I look like I don't want
      to bungee-jump/skydive/parasail/watch MTV just because
      I'm 44? :)

      hi

Make sure some places are opened as a lot of range land is closed. A lot of
historic places have been closed.. you just can't walk on lands where battles
took place. Make sure you can visit these places as most are closed now.

      No most are NOT closed.

Only Dumfries and Galloway has been affected by the
recent crisis (at present)(and hopefully we are approaching
the top of the predicted bellcurve). Some places are closed
but not by any means *most*.

For the latest news please check the Visit Scotland website.
      http://www.visitscotland.com/
which is being updated with as current information as is
      available.

And Scotland is by no means mostly "open range" and
farmland - a great deal of what any tourist would want
to see is in cities and towns. (nor do we graze sheep
and hieland coos on Princes St)

Well as one who will be 60 next birthday *and* has a heart condition, I just
got a promise out of hubby that I WILL get to parasail this year ---
somewhere !!! We're just deciding on the "where" right now :)

A lot of the places which were closed are being re-opened. Obviously you
may be delayed because cars etc going through farming country need to go
through disinfectant, it's a precaution. You just have to be sensible, but
a good tour company will keep you right on things.

The Foot and Mouth is confined to the Dumfries and Galloway area, far away
      from the Highlands.

The other thing is that it does people no harm at all, it seems that some
American press are being hysterical about it.

By the time you get here hopefully things will be even better.

      Elaine.
