Actually, the scene in part one of the "battle of evermore" was inspired in part by this poem... for duncan and tessa, and for ericka the raging storm The high tide has risen on the seas of time. The memories foam about my bare ankles, biting and cold. Their chill does not lead to numbness, only continual pain... "What the head makes cloudy, the heart makes very clear." I turn away, unwilling to sail these uncharted waters yet again, But the undertow is too great, and I find myself submerged once more. I gasp for a breath of the present, Yet swallow mouthfuls of recollections. Their overwhelming bitterness engulfs me, Envelops me, in a state of murky blackness. "The days were so much brighter in the time when she was here." I claw in desperation for anyone-- no, for someone, for her. But reality's waves crash between us, battering us both, tearing us apart again. I don't want to look, I cannot look, But my gaze remains steadfast, seeing her in her radience. The quiet in the raging storm... And then the gale picks up once more, Whipping her hair about her like a whirlwind. The maelstrom of time creates a vast gulf between us, Pulling me towards its inevitable climax. I reach out... Mirroring my actions of a year ago I scream and scream ripping asunder the very fabric of my existance My breath coming in ragged sobs, choked back by exhaustion When I realize that no sound has escaped my lips. "Without a noise, Without my pride, I reach out from the inside..." I awake on a windswept beach, the faint chill still permeating all And then the horizon explodes with a gleam of light. I look upon the sun in its radience, The quiet in the raging storm.
