Her adventure exhausted her. She twitched in her sleep, apparently dreaming. There was a knock on the door. The farmer's wife went to the door slowly and quietly to avoid waking the sleeping girl. A familiar looking woman was standing there, looking particularly frazzled. Almost as if she had just emerged from a lightning storm, or something equally unpleasant. The woman seemed terribly worried, and when she spoke, her voice shook with strain. "Have you seen my daughter?" The farmer's wife's eyes lit up with recognition. "Ms. Chamberlin! It's been a while since I've seen you. You're daughter is here. She was pretty shaken up, but she's asleep now." "Thank you for taking care of her. Can I see her? I want to take her home." "Go right ahead," said the farmer's wife. Just as she said it, Kayla stumbled into the front hallway. "Mom!" They embraced in a hug. Kayla whispered, "I thought he was going to kill us." "It's taken care of," Hannah replied equally softly. "Don't worry. He can't hurt you now." Hannah and Kayla went home to rest and relax. They walked back, and when Kayla noticed the devastation along the road near the outside of the house, she made a rude comment, to which Hannah replied with a light *WHAP* to the head. When they got home, Hannah threw Kayla a sponge from the kitchen, and motioned to the small spattering of blood in the living room. She looked pointedly at Kayla. "You made the mess, you clean it." Kayla who couldn't dispute with such logic, wiped up the floor, which luckily was hardwood. Then she continued putting the computer together. Then she thought of something. "Hey! It wasn't my fault I got blood all over the living room. It was your fault!" she called to her mother, who was upstairs. "My fault? What do you mean my fault?" "It was your fault he was trying to kill us. *You* cut out his eye. Or something like that," she explained. Hannah walked down the steps. "He started it. It wasn't completely my fault." Kayla looked at Hannah curiously. "When did he start it?" "Do you want to hear the whole story?" "Yes." "Okay. It all started about fifteen years ago- when I found you. I was jogging through the woods, and all of a sudden I saw a big lightning storm gathering in the sky..."
