A room in Hawk's castle. ========================== Enter Hawk, Lady Peregrine, and Samuel. Hawk : My dearest Lady Peregrine, I do fear trouble is afoot, For Duncan Macleod is about. A weaselly Scot, he may Try to take my head. Lady Peregrine : Hawk, my dearest deathless friend, Fear not, for this castle is passing strong, It hath survived the Civil War And many other torments. Thou shalt survive Scot-free. Hawk : Thou art truly a wondrous woman, And I bless the day I met thee. I will trust in thee absolutely, For since I was in America, Where I saw colony atrocities vile, I have hung up my sword. A peaceful immortal am I now. Lady Peregrine : This I know truly. Hawk : Waitest thou here, my dearest, And I shall fetch some wine That we may toast our love for each other. Exit Hawk. Lady Peregrine : Samuel, my foxy clever valet, Come close. I would give thee tasks. Samuel : Aye, my lady, I am here. I await Your command. Lady Peregrine : Then listen close. Thou knowest My dearest Hawk to be a good man, Peaceful and kind, No longer the villain that he was. Samuel : None could doubt it. Lady Peregrine : Then we must protect him Against rascals like Macleod, Who would wish to lop off husbands' heads. Samuel : What would you have me do? Lady Peregrine : Find the weaselly troublesome Scot, This one called Duncan, And run him from the county. He must not injure Hawk. Samuel : Aye, my lady, I will do as you command, For I also love Hawk dearly. Lady Peregrine : I will go help him with the wine. Exit Lady Peregrine. Samuel : Truly, a marvellous chance! Duncan Macleod may be the hope For which I have searched these past months Ever since Hawk came here. Months ago I was foremost in my lady's Affections, but now Hawk is there instead, And they plan to marry before the year is gone. Already do they call each other husband and wife, And make coochy-coo noises when bedded. I will pretend Hawk is a villain, Which in my eyes he is, And Macleod shall take his head. Aye, for with Hawk gone, Lady Peregrine shall truly be mine. Enter Lady Peregrine and Hawk. Lady Peregrine : Art thou still here, Samuel? I had asked thee to run errands. Samuel : I am just leaving, my lady, For I had of necessity to rebuckle mine shoes. Now I shall run your errands. With your grace, I take my leave. Hawk : Grace freely granted, good Samuel. Exit Samuel. He is a good man, the best we could wish for, A servant most trustworthy and reliable. Lady Peregrine : Aye, a servant bold and fearless Who will defend us with his final breath, Should we ask for it. Hawk : I hope we never have cause. Come, let us not dwell on death. I have wine. Let us drink These spirits, and in doing so, Celebrate our own spirits, For mine has found peace with thine, And in that spirit, I would hope that Duncan Macleod May forgive me my past errors And spirit himself off. Lady Peregrine : I will drink to that indeed. Let us go to the castle's balcony, There to drink and see the Cornish sea, Where I shall say that I dearly love thee. Exeunt Hawk and Lady Peregrine. -- //=== ||==|| //\\ || || u4d41@keele.ac.uk OR ksc15@keele.ac.uk // ||__|| //__\\ || || \\__|| || \\ // \\ || ||=== ...nearly 20 but definitely in love... =========================================================================
