She had started training and it was a chore. Richie tried to show her the basics, but it didn t work. She had almost taken his head the first day, out of frustration. The next day she went to Amanda and asked for help. Amanda was thrilled to have a new student and Megan would learn much more from her than just swordsmanship. She would learn to survive. To use her advantage, her femininity to keep her head. Amanda would teach her to rely on herself not a man. Richie had said it himself that she needed to survive on her own. She was a fast learner and was getting as good as Richie. This was her chance and she wasn t going to blow it. He was always better at something and now was her time. The group had decided to meet at Joe s to relax and Megan was looking forward to the down time. She knew she could never truly be out of the game, but it gave her time to live not just survive. She and Amanda walked in fashionably late to find Richie, Duncan and Methos sitting at a table near the wall. Duncan sat patiently, pretending not to see the two men across the table. Richie and Methos were acting childish by leaning their chairs against the wall. Hello. , chirped Amanda as she reached for the chair beside Duncan. Megan took the seat by Richie as he let his chair fall effortlessly back to all four legs. Suddenly, Methos face filled with surprise as he realized his chair was slipping. He landed on the floor with a thud to a chorus of laughter. Megan took a breath, Are you ok? , she asked between giggles. Nothing hurt, but my pride. , he said with a smile, as he placed the chair upright and took his seat. Even after 5000 years he still made mistakes and found himself in embarrassing situations. Joe walked over with three beers, For the guys, and what can I get you lovely ladies? Amanda answered quickly, A white wine please. I feel sophisticated tonight. It took Megan a minute, I ll have a coke with a shot of cinnamon schnapps. She got some weird looks from the others at the table, It s good. Don t knock it. Joe went off to fill the orders and left them to their conversation. So Megan, how s *life* treating you? , Duncan asked for lack of a better question. Megan smiled, Good. I m learning. Just then the band began a set and the conversation took a back seat. Joe came back moments later with the drinks. Megan took as sip as Richie glared at her. She glared back and he decided to give up. The group talked and listened to the music for the next few hours, swapping stories, telling jokes and of course drinking. Megan decided it was time to go home and with a whisper convinced Richie of the idea. They said their good byes and made their way out the door to wait for the cab. Joe wasn t about to let them drive home, immortal or not. A thunderstorm had rolled in and they huddled under the awning for shelter. The entire time Richie had the strange feeling they were being watched and they were. Little did they know that Mason was lurking in the shadows. Close enough to see their every move but far enough away as not to be felt. The cab came and they ran for it, splashing through puddles like a pair of children. They arrived at their building and paid the driver. They ran under the awning and shook the excess water from their jackets. Suddenly, Mason slipped within range and they both became aware of him. Richie sent Megan up to the apartment just in case and waited for any sings of danger. As quickly as he had slipped into range, Mason backed off. They had been warned, and now was not the time to attack. Megan unlocked the door and put the keys on the counter as she hung up her jacket. She walked back to the bedroom to change and flipped on the lights. She got to the bed and sat down just as the lights went out. Her body tensed as she got the buzz. Thoughts raced through her mind. She assumed it was Richie but then she remembered the other presence they had felt and began to worry. She was paralyzed as she heard the footsteps coming to the door. She kept her eyes fixed in the darkness to where the door should be. There was a sudden flash of lightning and she caught a glimpse of a figure in the doorway. Megan screamed as the accompanying thunder rolled through the room. Richie stopped at the bedroom door as a flash of lightning illuminated the room. There she was on the bed. He called to her, but was drowned out by the thunder and her scream. He focused on the point where she had been and made a run for her. His body made contact with hers landing her on her back. He took hold of her and attempted to calm her down, Shh! It s me. Richie. She stopped screaming and tried to slow her raging pulse as the words escaped her lips, Thank God. The sound of his voice was comfort enough, but the closeness of his body sparked a different feeling. She reached up to touch his face and kissed him. It was an open invitation and she was prepared for the outcome. There was another flash of lightning and she watched it reflected in his blue eyes. Her pulse never slowed and they both were taken over by the moment. She slipped her arms around his neck and kissed him again. His hands moved down to her waist. She arched her back towards him as his hands came in contact with her skin. The bodies moved like one as he pulled her up. She grabbed the back of his t shirt and took it off. With that done she reached down an took off her own t shirt. She could feel the chill of her locket as it tapped her skin just above her breasts. She unhooked her bra and slid it down her arms. Then she reached for him. Putting her arms on his shoulders, she pressed herself against his chest. His lips searched for hers. There was the faint taste of cinnamon left from her drink at Joe s and she d been right. It was good. Addiction part six coming soon. I'm working on it. o H / "No Man Can Be My Equal!"
