I ve written stories before, but this is the first time I ve actually posted anything. I post what I have finished. I am not finished with this story at the time of this posting. I will only have access to this computer for about one more week. I know I will not finish in time and therefore *if you would like to get new parts to the story after that time send me an email and I will work out a snail mail system.* *Warning*: This warning has been placed here to inform my readers that there is language that some might find harsh and vulgar. There are also scenes where there is material of a sexual nature, or where it is implied. It will be implied in the first parts because I have finished them, and I know. The rest of the story is not yet finished and may contain the above. That said. Read on and enjoy! Thanks Emm ;-D Addiction (part two) By Emm Megan stood in front of the bathroom mirror. She flipped a stray hair away from her eye. She looked at the woman s image gazing back at her from the mirror. It was hard to believe that woman was her. She still felt like that fourteen year-old girl, face buried in Richie s chest, startled by the thunder. Her mind slipped back to that summer night, six years before. The innocence, the storm, the flashlight, the lightning, the room, the rain, the passion, the thunder; all these things had been permanently burned into her memory. They were so young, and yet she remembered him as the mature sixteen year-old forged from a life on the streets. She had only gone to borrow a flashlight. What followed was like a dream. It could only have occurred under those conditions, on that night, at that moment. They denied it for a long time, saying it was their imagination. There had been some alcohol consumed and they dismissed it as a drunken delusion. Now, after six years and a bit of maturation on both parts, it had become a moment, in their history. Megan was brought, unwillingly, back to reality, by the sound of Richie coming in the door. Where have you been? You ll have to rush to get ready now. , she said. She pulled up a small section of hair on the left side of her head, and secured it with a tiny rhinestone barrette. Ready for what? , he said as he threw his jacket on the couch. She reached over and turned down the radio so they wouldn t have to shout, We have reservations at Baker s Landing in an hour. Why? , he said reaching for the refrigerator door. Don t even think about opening the refrigerator. , she said walking toward the living room. She stopped in the middle of the room, One week ago exactly, you said those three little words. How did she know he was headed for a snack? He turned toward her voice. She came in the room talking, but he was more interested in the view. She was dressed to kill, in a little black satin dress. He hadn t heard a word she said. He had other plans. Megan saw that look in his eyes, It took me two hours to get ready and I ll be damned if you re getting me out of this dress. She turned and headed back to the bathroom to cleanup. She could read him like a book, and that was something she rather enjoyed. Megan put everything she had used back in its place. They wouldn t be there long. The bathroom would be a wreck when Richie finished. Towels on the floor, water left dripping in the sink. She began to wonder why she even bothered, but it felt right to her, cleaning up after him. It was like her job. She earned her keep and that was clear. He actually thought about picking the towels up this time, but, he was already late. He threw on a pair of black jeans and a green button down shirt. He grabbed his black blazer and headed for the living room. So how do I look? , he said striking his best GQ pose. Megan stood up and walked toward him, Nice shirt, no wrinkles. The blazer matches. , she said examining the outfit. And I love those jeans. , she said as she wrapped her arms around his waist and slid her hands in his back pockets. She pulled on him as she started for the door, We have to leave now. Reluctantly he followed her lead. And we re taking a cab. No arguments. , she said in a stern tone as she grabbed her coat and reached for the door knob. After dinner they took a walk by the harbour. They walked to Soldier s bridge and stopped to look at the water. Megan rested her chin on the rail and stared at the reflections of the nearby lights as they danced on the water. Richie had his back against the rail, and was watching the stars. Finally, she broke the silence, Do you ever wonder how many other people have done this very same thing? He thought a second and answered her, Sometimes. I like to go up on the roof and look out at the city. Just then it hit him. His whole body became alert. He looked around to find the source, the other immortal. There, a few yards away was a large man, staring at them. Richie? What s wrong? , Megan asked. I ll tell you at home. Let s go. Just act normal ok. , he answered taking her hand and walking to the other side of the bridge. It was only a couple of blocks to the apartment so they walked home. The entire way Richie was uneasy. They got into the apartment and as soon as she had hung up her coat, Megan started the inquest. We re home. Now what happened out there? Richie took her by the hand, You better sit down for this one. and lead her to the couch. He felt, if she was living with him, she d have to live with the secret. This is going to be hard to believe, but I m immortal. I was shot and died three years ago. Megan s eyes widened, You re kidding me right? No. I swear, it s the truth. , he said with a straight face. Here watch this. I can prove it. , he got up and walked into the kitchen. He took a knife out of the drawer and cut a long gash down his arm. Blood ran down to his hand. He put down the knife and walked over to her. Look. No cut, no scar. , he said wiping away the blood. She took hold of his arm and cleared away the remaining blood. He was right. The cut was gone. She met his eyes and there was silence for a moment. Do you believe me now? , he asked. She nodded, Yes. Just don t ever do that again. They spent the next two hours going over the details of immortality. They talked about Holy Ground, the rules, how many so called deaths he had been through. He showed her his rapier and explained about the man at the bridge. He told her about Duncan, Connor, Amanda, Methos, Joe, and the Watchers. It was a real life fairy tale and Megan was living it.
