"Dan, you home?" she asked the darkened house. There are shutters drawn tightly over all the windows, letting no light in. "In here Julie." Dan called from the kitchen. "Just getting a snack before bed." Julie entered the kitchen and sat down to watch Dan pour himself a glass of red thick liquid from a green bottle. "Want some?" Dan asked with a wicked grin. "No thanks, I don't drink blood." Julie replied. "You OK sis?" Dan asked. Anyone looking at Dan and Julie could tell that they were related. They both had green eyes and red hair. What most people didn't know was that Dan and Julie are twins. "Fine, just fine. I was attacked again by another immortal tonight." Dan sighed and said "Are you _sure_ you're OK?" "Yah, I'm fine. Go to bed." Dan gave her a searching look, then gave her a peck on the cheek and told Julie "OK, goodnight, sis." "Don't you mean goodday?" Julie said quietly, knowing that Dan could hear her. She heard her brother chuckling as he went to bed. ===== That night, Tracy got a phone call at the precinct about the Kelnoff murder. "Nick, I think we have a lead, a college student matching the description we gave out by the name of Julie Thatcher. She lives with her brother nearby." "Come on then, let's go." Nick replied. ===== "So, Joe, how are we gonna find her?" Duncan asked as he settled into the hotel room the two were sharing. "I'm gonna call Kelnoff's Watcher and see of he has any more information." Joe replied. "Great, I'll see what I can find out from my contacts. Meet you back here in a few hours?" "Suits me. See you later." ===== There was a knock on the door, and when Dan opened it, he noticed that there was a vampire and a mortal on the other side. "Can I help you?" Dan asked. Nick looked at Dan worriedly and thought 'This Julie Thatcher knows a vampire? Oh, great.' "I'm Detective Tracy Vetter and this is Detective Nick Knight. We're looking for Julie Thatcher. It's imperative that we speak to her." Tracy told Dan. "I'm Dan Thatcher, her brother. I'll see if she's still here. Be right back." Dan replied as he walked upstairs. Nick and Tracy looked around while Dan was gone. "Nice place." Tracy observed. Nick nodded but didn't reply. He was eavesdropping on Dan and Julie's conversation. ===== "Julie, there's some police detectives here to see you." Dan told his sister. "Then I'm out of here. See ya around bro." Julie said while grabbing the duffel bag she always kept packed for such an occasion. She gave Dan a kiss, then she climbed out the window. Dan walked back downstairs and said "I'm sorry detectives, you must have just missed her." When he saw Tracy's look of disbelief, Dan added "You can look around the house for her if you want." "I'll do that Nick, if you'll talk to Dan." Tracy said to her partner. "OK Tracy." Nick replied. After Tracy had gone upstairs, Nick growled to Dan "Where is she?" "You heard our conversation detective. I don't know where my sister is." "Why did she kill Kelnoff?" Nick asked. "I'll tell you later after I find her and ask her permission. Is their somewhere you can meet me?" Dan asked. "The Raven. I'll meet you at the Raven. And if you don't show up, I'll hunt you down myself." Nick replied. "Good, I'll buy you a drink." Dan offered nervously. "I only drink cow." Nick told him. "Yuck!" Dan made a disgusted face. Before Nick could reply, Tracy came down the stairs. "The place is empty Nick. There's no one here but him." Tracy said. As the two detectives were driving back to the precinct, Tracy asked, "Did you get anything from Mr. Thatcher?" "No. Looks like another dead end." Nick told Tracy as they drove off. -- Cousin April -- the Ninja Babe with an attitude Born to make normal people's lives a living hell. aruskin@edge.ercnet.com "Faciemus ut Dewus Mountainus e Tuo Nasone Exeat!"
